Born on June 21, 1964, in Beaumont, Texas, Janie was the daughter of Curtis and Marguerite Woosley, who predeceased her. Janie was a beacon of love and kindness, known for her unwavering concern for others despite her own challenges. Her selfless nature and gentle spirit touched the lives of everyone she encountered. She was rarely heard complaining about her own struggles, instead focusing on the well-being of those around her. A proud graduate of Dulles High School in Sugarland, Janie furthered her education at Houston Baptist University, where she earned a degree in education. For 22 years, she dedicated her life to shaping young minds as an elementary and special education teacher. Her passion for teaching and her commitment to her students left a lasting impact on countless children and their families. Beyond her professional life, Janie was an active member of Sugar Creek Baptist Church. Even when her illness prevented her from attending services in person, her faith remained strong as she continued to participate online. Her love for her family was unparalleled, and she cherished every moment spent with them, especially during their heartfelt gatherings. Janie is survived by her loving husband of 21 years, Perry Cotton, her daughters Jennifer Blay and Erin Patel, her son Andrew Cotton, and six adored grandchildren. Her legacy of love and compassion will live on through them. A service to celebrate Janie's remarkable life will be held on September 11, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at the Settegast-Kopf funeral home, located at 15015 Southwest Freeway, Sugarland, Texas, 77478. Janie Cotton will be remembered for her warmth, her strength, and her unwavering love for her family and community. She leaves behind a legacy of kindness and compassion that will continue to inspire all who knew her.
