Janice Zimmerman

Janice Zimmerman, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away unexpectedly on September 12, 2026, at the age of 77. Born on February 18, 1949, in Winona, Minnesota, Janice was the daughter of Frank and Sylvia Chupita, who predeceased her. She was a beacon of love and kindness whose presence will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Janice grew up in Winona, where she graduated from Cotter High School in 1957. Her dedication to learning and helping others led her to a fulfilling career at the Mayo Clinic, where she devoted 30 years as a medical secretary and research coordinator. Her colleagues and patients alike remember her as a compassionate professional who always went above and beyond to ensure the well-being of those around her. On December 27, 1969, Janice married the love of her life, Donald Zimmerman, in their hometown of Winona. Together, they built a beautiful family and shared a life filled with love, laughter, and countless cherished memories. Janice is survived by her devoted husband, Donald; her children, Jon (Lana), Jeff (Connie), and Jill Spangler (Bryan); her six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren, all of whom were the light of her life. She is further survived by her siblings, Ken Chupita, Jean Jilk (Stephan), and Greg Chupita. Her faith was a cornerstone of her existence, and she was an active member of Grace Community Church in Eyota, Minnesota, where she found joy and purpose in serving her community. Janice was also passionate about her hobbies, including card making and gardening, which brought her immense joy and allowed her to express her creativity and love for nature. A service to honor Janice's life will be held on Saturday, September 19, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Grace Community Church, 311 Carolann, Eyota, MN. Family, friends, and all whose lives she touched are invited to join in celebrating the remarkable life she led. In lieu of flowers, donations in Janice's memory can be made payable to Donald Zimmerman, and will be forwarded to Compassion International, an organization she held close to her heart. Her legacy of love and generosity will continue through the lives she impacted and the memories cherished by her family and friends. Janice will be remembered as a guiding light, whose love and warmth will forever be felt by those who had the privilege of knowing her.
