Obituary for Janice Williams August 20, 1953 - May 26, 2026 With heavy hearts, we announce the peaceful passing of Janice Williams on May 26, 2026, after her fourth courageous battle with cancer. Born on August 20, 1953, in Lima, Ohio, Janice was a beacon of kindness, strength, and unwavering love. Janice was the cherished daughter of the late Charles "Tip" and Bettie Marshall. She was predeceased by her beloved parents and is survived by her devoted husband of nearly 48 years, Dave Williams, who she married on June 16, 1978, in their hometown of Lima. Their journey together led them to Alaska in 1984, where they cultivated a life rich in love and laughter, raising three wonderful children: Katie, Adam, and Ben, along with his partner, Jolene Hurd. Janice was a proud and doting grandmother to four grandchildren: Jacob, Charles, Matthew, and Aiden Williams. Her family was the cornerstone of her existence, and her love extended beyond her immediate family to her brother, Dan Marshall, and sister, Connie Williams. Janice's spirit will forever remain in the hearts of all who knew her. Professionally, Janice dedicated 12 years to the Matsu School District in the Human Resources Department, focusing on teacher recruitment. Her work was more than a job; it was a calling. She welcomed new educators to Alaska with open arms, making them feel valued and at home in their new surroundings. Janice was a vibrant member of the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church for 42 years, actively participating in the church community and serving as a board member. Her involvement with the Wasilla Youth Soccer Association showcased her passion for supporting youth activities and her dedication as a super volunteer. Her interests were as varied as they were profound. Janice had a green thumb and a special love for gardening, often sharing the fruits of her labor, especially her treasured raspberry jam, with friends and family. An avid traveler, she logged over a million airline miles and cherished the experiences and memories made along the way. For 30 years, Janice relished monthly gatherings with a special group of friends, originally brought together by Bunco but kept together by their shared joy in eating, drinking, conversing, and laughing. Janice's kindness and generosity were legendary. She touched countless lives with her open heart and warm spirit, proving her resilience time and again by overcoming numerous medical challenges without complaint. Her strength was an inspiration to all who knew her. A celebration of Janice’s life will take place on June 11, 2026, at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 501 E Bogard Rd., Wasilla, AK. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, reflecting Janice's lifelong commitment to her faith and community. The Williams family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Mat-Su Regional Hospital for the compassionate care Janice received during her final days. Their support and kindness did not go unnoticed. In this time of mourning, let us remember Janice Williams for her loving heart, unwavering strength, and the joy she brought into the lives of all who were fortunate to know her. May her legacy of love, resilience, and kindness continue to inspire us all.
