The world lost a vibrant soul as Janice Viola O'Quinn (McNew) passed away on September 13, 2026, after a courageous battle of life. Born on April 3, 1944, in Grundy, Virginia, Janice was the cherished daughter of Algie McNew (Stiltner) and Clarence McNew. Her life was a tapestry of love, laughter, and unwavering faith. Janice was predeceased by her beloved mother Algie, her father Clarence, her sister Mary Sartin, and her sons Edward, Kenneth, and Jerome O'Quinn. Also her Nephew Melvin, Her legacy continues to shine through her surviving Brother: Ellis (Pearl) McNew, Her Nephew: Donnie M, Her Niece: Connie E, Her Children: Her Sons Steven McNew, Shannan O’Quinn and Curtis Wilder II, and her Daughters: Treesa O'Quinn, Wendy Wilder (O'Quinn), and Lisa O. She was a proud grandmother to 15 grandchildren—Janleen, Mikka, Lacey, Lexus, Blazia, Curtis III, Amber, Edward, Kim, Jennifer, Amy, Brook, Amanda, Melissa, —and a cherished great-grandmother to 19 great-grandchildren including Chloe, Naudia, Nikia, Jason, Jerzee, Brooklyn, Corey II, Jaziah, Ava, Myla, Javon, Jalakay, Miliano, ILeanah, Iyanna, Shakour, Iveri, Amora, Amilliya, Amia and many more not mentioned but very loved as well. Her extended family of step-children and step-grandchildren, as well as countless other loved ones, will forever hold her memory close. Janice lived her life in Canton, Ohio. She shared life and children with Claude and Earnest, creating a family filled that gave her love and laughter. Her home was often filled with the joyous sounds of gospel music, the BeeGees, and Kenny G, music she loved to play loudly. Known for her great sense of humor, Janice had a gift for bringing smiles and laughter to others, always ready with a joke to lighten the mood. She raised many children as if they were her own. A devoted Christian woman, Janice found joy in serving the Lord and was an active member of several churches, including the Cathedral of Life and Trinity Gospel. She was known for her generous spirit and often hosted church services in her home, complete with a piano, tambourine ,and organ. Janice had a passion for life that extended beyond her faith. She loved shopping for clothes and home decor, taking walks in the park, and enjoying boat rides on the lake with her son. Her grandchildren fondly remember her singing "You Are My Sunshine," a song that became a cherished family tradition. Friends, including Sonia, Rose, and Larry, knew Janice as a strong, independent woman who faced health challenges with resilience and grace. Her ability to uplift others, no matter her own circumstances, is a testament to her indomitable spirit. Making sure to add a joke and make someone smile before they left her. A service to celebrate Janice's life will be held on October 12, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at the Cathedral of Life, located at 4111 38th St NW, Canton, Ohio 44718. In memory of Janice, donations may be made to a charity to Cathedral of Life or Trinity Gospel Temple. Janice Viola O'Quinn leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and unwavering faith. She will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her, but her spirit will live on in the hearts of her family and friends forever.
