November 23, 1949 — March 27, 2021

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Janice Elaine Young, a beloved mother, daughter, sister, and friend. Born on November 23, 1949, in Massillon, Ohio, Janice departed this world on March 27, 2021, due to congestive heart failure and coronary artery disease. Her life journey, marked by resilience and creativity, left an indelible impact on all who knew her. Janice was the beloved daughter of Thomas and Maudine Young, whose love and support shaped a woman of great strength. She was predeceased by both parents and her dear brother, Timothy Young. Remembering her with love are her three sons, Toddrae Lynch, Angelo Lynch, and Jerry Joe Lynch Jr, and her loving siblings, Thomas Young Jr, Rita Marie Young, Gary Young, Raymond (Pierre) Shamsid-deen, and Anthony Young. In her younger years, Janice married Jerry Joe Lynch on August 29, 1967. Though their marriage faced challenges and ultimately ended in divorce on October 4, 1973, it blessed them with three handsome young sons. As a homemaker, Janice dedicated herself to her family, occasionally stepping into the workforce to lend additional support. Janice's vibrant personality was as colorful as the fashion designs she adored creating. Her passion for fashion design led her to organize local fashion shows in the St. Paul area, where family and friends often took to the runway, showcasing her unique creations. Her gregarious nature and infectious laughter made these events memorable gatherings, bringing joy to all participants and attendees. Janice was also a talented cook and likely inherited some of her culinary skills from her mother, Maudine. Her kitchen was a place of warmth and delicious aromas, where she effortlessly whipped up meals that comforted and delighted those fortunate enough to share her table. Despite her many gifts, Janice faced significant life challenges. In the early 1980s, she was diagnosed with a serious psychological illness, which led to an extended hospitalization stay. She was eventually released, however the illness cast a long shadow over the rest of her life. In the years that followed, Janice's path took unexpected turns, leading her away from her Minnesota home. Her family searched tirelessly for her during her periods of long absences. In late 2025, after contacting numerous legal and medical resources, her family discovered that Janice had spent her final years mostly in Las Vegas, Nevada, where she stayed in shelters before passing away at the St. Joseph Transitional Rehabilitation Center. Despite her struggles, the love of her family remained steadfast, and her memory will be cherished in their hearts forever. A ceremony to honor Janice's life was held at Davis Funeral Home in Las Vegas, Nevada, and her remains were cremated on May 10, 2021, with her Ossuary placement on December 14, 2022. Her life, though marked by many difficult trials, was also filled with love, laughter, and creativity. Her legacy lives on through her sons and family, who continue to celebrate her life and the joy she brought into theirs. Janice's journey reminds us of the strength of the human spirit and the enduring power of love. May she rest in peace, forever remembered and deeply missed.
