It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Janice Robertson, who departed this life peacefully at her home on June 23, 2026, after a courageous battle with heart disease. Born on January 1, 1950, in Washington, DC, Janice was a beacon of light and love, whose presence enriched the lives of all she encountered. Janice was the cherished daughter of Yvonne and Williams Spriggs, and she was blessed with a loving family who will continue to honor her memory. She was predeceased by her dear mother, Yvonne, and leaves behind a legacy of warmth and kindness in her surviving family members: her devoted children, Tonya and Tracie Robertson, and her adored grandchildren, Treana Robertson and Tyrell Thomas. Janice’s special niece, Tara Freeman, and her brother, Wayne Spriggs, along with several nieces and nephews, will carry forward her spirit of love and generosity. Her life was also graced by the enduring friendships she shared with Shirley, Mickey, Connie, Jackie, and Lisa. A proud graduate of Francis L. Cardozo High School, Janice embarked on a remarkable career with the Patent and Trademark Federal Agency, where she dedicated 41 years as a Patent Examiner Assistant. Her exceptional service and commitment were recognized with numerous awards for outstanding customer service and performance, a testament to her diligence and professionalism. Janice retired in 2000, leaving behind an indelible mark on her colleagues and the agency. Janice was a pillar of her community, actively participating as a member of the 19th Street Baptist Church for over two decades. Her involvement with the Helping Hands Club highlighted her passion for service and her unwavering commitment to helping others. Known for her helpfulness and warm smile, Janice had a unique gift for making everyone feel welcome and valued. Her kindness and generosity touched countless lives, and her legacy of compassion will forever inspire those who knew her. In accordance with Janice’s wishes, a private funeral ceremony will be held. The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to all who have offered support, sent cards, made phone calls, and kept them in their prayers during this difficult time. A special thank you goes to the hospital staff for their compassionate care. As we bid farewell to Janice, we hold her memory close, knowing that she is "Forever in our hearts." Her life was a testament to the power of love and kindness, and her spirit will continue to guide and inspire us all.
