Janice Marie Schumaker
July 3, 1946 — September 1, 2026
Janice Marie Schumaker, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on September 1, 2026, at the age of 80. Born on July 3, 1946, in Pomona, California, to Margaret and John Culpan, Janice was a beacon of love and strength to all who knew her.
Janice was a devoted wife to her late husband, Daniel Schumaker, whom she married on November 21, 1964, in Chino, California. Together, they shared 46 beautiful years of marriage, filled with love and cherished memories. Her devotion to her family was unparalleled, and she was a pillar of strength and warmth for her daughters, Susan Reed and Deborah Walker. Janice is survived by her 2 daughters and her sister, Donna Smith. Her legacy continues through her five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren, each of whom held a special place in her heart.
For 26 years, Janice dedicated her professional life to serving as the Supervisor of Food Services at Hesperia High School. Her commitment to her work and the students she served was evident in her tireless dedication and the countless lives she touched.
Janice found joy in the simple pleasures of life, particularly her travels with family and friends to San Felipe, Mexico, and her favorite destination, Las Vegas. She loved playing 3 card poker, pai gow, and the slot machines, often accompanied by laughter and camaraderie. Her fondness for gathering with loved ones at Northwoods Inn remains a cherished memory for all who joined her.
Those who knew Janice will remember her for her unwavering devotion to her family, her kindness, and her ability to bring joy to any room. Her daughters wish to extend a heartfelt acknowledgment to her grandson, David, for his over 15 years of unwavering care and support, as well as to Richard Reed, Susan’s husband, for his compassionate assistance during Janice’s final days.
Janice Marie Schumaker will be dearly missed, but her love, laughter, and strength will live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing her.
