Janice Lucille Snyder McCarthy, a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on September 26, 2026, surrounded by her family in a room full of love. She was born on January 27, 1954, in Syracuse, New York, to the late David Charles Snyder Sr and Janice Couch. Janice's life was a testament to love, creativity, and resilience, and she leaves behind a legacy cherished by all who knew her. Janice was united in marriage to Charles Richard McCarthy Sr. on September 28, 1974, and they shared 31 beautiful years together until Charles' passing in 2006. Together, they built a life filled with laughter, partnership, and shared passions, working side by side as DJs and sign makers. Janice also pursued careers as a chef and in security, showcasing her versatility and dedication. A woman of many talents, Janice was an avid crafter who found joy in creating art through coloring, diamond dots, and various crafts. Her home was always filled with the vibrant results of her artistry, and she took great pride in her creations. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren held a special place in her heart, and she delighted in spending time with them, sharing stories, and playing games. Janice was a lifelong member of the Moose Lodge in Riverview, Florida, where she formed lasting bonds and contributed to the community. Her infectious happiness and warmth made her a beloved figure among friends and family alike. She is survived by her loving children: Tammy Norton (Richard), Bernard McCarthy (Theresa), Charles McCarthy Jr (Renee), and Robin McCarthy. Her legacy continues through her 13 grandchildren: Anthony Marsh, Raychell Norton, Richard Norton III, Christopher Norton, Deanna McCarthy, Julie McCarthy, Justin Williams, Austin Williams, Charles Stewart, Chad Rider, David Rule, Richard Hyde, and Vincent Hyde, as well as her 5 great-grandchildren: Cloey, Jonathan, Emma, Lana, and Bau. Janice also leaves behind her cherished siblings: John Snyder (Kathleen), David Snyder Jr (Laura), Michael Snyder (Laura), Paul Snyder (Dawn), Tim Snyder (Crystal), and Joseph Snyder Sr (Annie), along with a close-knit circle of dear friends, including James Bevill (Tammy), Darrell Downer (Linda), JC Mechlin (Shannon), James Mechlin, Naomi Brandon, Paul Schneider (Lucy), Larry Chaple, and Ben Muir. She was also adored by countless nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, her husband Charles McCarthy, her daughter Michelle Marsh, and her siblings Mark, Edwin, and Mary. A memorial service to honor Janice's life will be held on October 3, 2026, at 12:00 PM at Friendship Funeral Home, located at 152 Main Street, Friendship, TN 38034. The family will accept any flower donations. Her family shares, “Forever in our hearts and will always be known as Crazy Evil Granny.” Janice's joyful spirit, creative soul, and loving heart will be dearly missed, but her memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
