Janice Amy Jimenez (née Carlson), a cherished mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully in her sleep on August 12, 2026, at the age of 87. Born on July 14, 1939, in Cass County, Minnesota, Janice was the beloved daughter of Alvin and Grace Carlson.
Janice's life was a tapestry of love, creativity, and resilience. She graduated from Greenway High School in 1957 and furthered her education at San Diego City College. Her thirst for knowledge and passion for the arts led her to pursue a life filled with creativity and expression. Janice was an accomplished artist and writer, with a particular fondness for watercolor and oil paints. Her keen eye for photography captured the beauty in everyday moments, while her heart penned several Bible-based novels that resonated with readers.
In Long Beach, California, Janice met and later married Gerardo Francisco Jimenez Hurtado, a native of Spain. Together, they built a family and a life rooted in love and shared values in San Diego, CA. They nurtured their only child, Susana Jimenez Iribe, with warmth and wisdom. Janice's kindhearted and forgiving spirit was a beacon of comfort and strength to those who knew her.
Janice devoted much of her life to being a homemaker and contributing to the family rental business. Despite her busy life, she always found time to indulge in her favorite pastime of reading Christian historical fiction, which offered her solace and inspiration.
She is survived by her beloved daughter, Susana Jimenez Iribe, and her two cherished granddaughters, Josephine and Samantha Iribe, as well as her sisters, Geraldine Neyer and Judith Prince, and her brother, Duane Carlson, who will forever hold her memory close to their hearts. Janice was predeceased by her devoted husband, Gerardo, whose memory she carried with her always.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Paradise Seniors Living Valley for the compassionate care they provided to Janice in her final days.
A service to honor and celebrate Janice's life will be held on August 31, 2026, at 10:00 AM at Community Mortuary, located at 855 Broadway, Chula Vista, CA 91911.
Janice Amy Jimenez's legacy of love, art, and kindness lives on in the hearts of all who were fortunate to know her. She will be deeply missed and fondly remembered.
