JANET THERESA (ANCTIL) HIGGINS

October 10, 1959 — May 28, 2026

It is with a profound sense of loss and a deep appreciation for a life well-lived that we announce the passing of Janet Theresa (Anctil) Higgins, who departed this world on May 28, 2026, at the age of 66. Born on October 10, 1959, in Davenport, Iowa, Janet was a cherished daughter to Theresa and Bob Anctil, who predeceased her, along with her beloved brother, Tom. Janet's journey through life was marked by a tapestry of love, creativity, and unwavering devotion to her family and friends. She spent her formative years in Bridgewater, Nova Scotia, where she graduated from Bridgewater Jr. Sr. Highschool. It was here that she began to weave the threads of community and connection that would define her life. A gifted seamstress, Janet possessed an extraordinary talent for crafting beauty with needle and thread. Her creations were not just garments; they were expressions of her heart and soul, stitched with love and care. Whether designing a special dress or crafting a cozy quilt, Janet's artistry brought warmth and joy to all who received her handiwork. Janet's life was one of service, both to her family and her community. Her legacy lives on through her cherished children, Shelby and Jordan, who carry forward her values of kindness, resilience, and love. Janet's granddaughters, Thea and Chloe Selig, were her pride and joy, and she delighted in every moment spent with them, sharing her love of crafting and storytelling. Janet's family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate caregivers at Ryan's Hall in Bridgewater, who provided her with comfort and care throughout the years. Their dedication and kindness were a source of immense comfort to Janet and her family. In honoring Janet's life, her family kindly requests that donations be made in her memory to MS Canada (mscanada.ca), a cause close to her heart. Janet's strength and courage in the face of adversity were an inspiration, and supporting MS Canada is a fitting tribute to her indomitable spirit. A service to celebrate Janet's life will be held at a later date. During this time of mourning, we encourage all who knew and loved Janet to hold her memory close, cherishing the moments of joy and laughter shared. As we bid farewell to Janet, we remember her as a beacon of love and creativity, a devoted mother, grandmother, and friend. Her legacy will continue to inspire and uplift all who were fortunate enough to know her. May Janet rest in peace, surrounded by the love and light she so generously shared with the world.
