Her life was enriched by her beloved son, Jaylyn McElroy, who survives her and will carry forward her legacy of love and compassion. Janet's life was a testament to the beauty of kindness and the importance of nurturing young minds. A proud alumna of Jackson State University, Janet graduated with a degree in child studies, which she used to pursue her passion for teaching. She dedicated her career to educating preschoolers, where her vibrant spirit and innate ability to connect with children made her an unforgettable teacher. Her classroom was always filled with laughter and learning, as she inspired countless young hearts. Janet had an insatiable love for reading and was always eager to share her knowledge by tutoring children in her community. Her outgoing nature and beautiful soul made her a delight to be around. Janet's infectious laughter and warm smile will be dearly missed by all who knew her. A celebration of Janet's life will be held on June 30, 2026, at 8:30 PM at The Songbird Church, located at 1261 Fisher Lane. Family, friends, and all whose lives Janet touched are welcome to join in honoring her memory. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Janet's memory to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, an organization close to her heart. This gesture will ensure that her legacy of giving and nurturing future generations continues.
