February 2, 1954 — May 30, 2026

With heavy hearts and cherished memories, we announce the peaceful passing of Janet Kalbfleisch on May 30, 2026, at the age of 72. Surrounded by love, she left this world held in the warmth of caring arms at her long-term care residence. Janet was born on February 2, 1954, in London, Ontario, to Herbert Kalbfleisch and Joan Poole. Janet is survived by her beloved children, Erin and Kyle, who were the center of her universe. She was the proud and devoted grandmother to Quinn and Connor, who brought immense joy and laughter to her days. Her sister, Krista, and brother, Eric remain to cherish the memories of their shared journey. Janet's family was her greatest treasure, and she devoted herself wholly to their happiness and well-being. After dedicating many years to raising her children with unwavering love and care, Janet embarked on a career in retail sales, where her warmth and kindness shone brightly. However, it was through her volunteer work that Janet truly left an indelible mark on her community. Over the years Janet held many volunteer positions, first as a Chapter President for Parents Without Partners. Her dedication extended to managing the Parkwoods Rayoak community food bank in the Don Valley East neighborhood for over a decade, ensuring that no family went hungry. Furthermore, she served as a tenant representative for Toronto Community Housing for many years, advocating tirelessly for her neighbors. Janet's generous spirit led her to volunteer with Toronto Police Services until 2023, building bridges and fostering trust within her community. Her unwavering dedication to helping others was matched only by her natural ability to bring people together, always with a quick laugh and a gentle, supportive nature. A loving mother and grandmother, Janet's happiest moments were spent nurturing and guiding her family. She played an integral role in raising her grandsons, ensuring they were surrounded by love and care while their mother worked long hours. Janet’s legacy is one of selflessness, joy, and an unyielding commitment to bettering the lives of those around her. She was a beacon of kindness in a sometimes challenging world, and her cheerful energy will be deeply missed by all who knew her. A brief celebration of Janet's life will be held on June 5, 2026, at 2:00 PM at Highland Funeral Home, located at 3280 Sheppard Avenue East. The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at The Wexford Residence for their genuine love and care of Janet over the past two years. The family kindly requests that any donations in her name be made to a local food bank or community organization in Janet’s honor, continuing her legacy of giving and support.
