Janet Hunter, a beloved mother, grandmother, and cherished friend, peacefully departed this world on February 21, 2026, at the age of 85, surrounded by her loved ones. Born on July 25, 1940, in Columbia, South Carolina, Janet lived a life rich with love, compassion, and unwavering dedication to her family. Janet was a beacon of strength and warmth, whose gentle spirit touched the hearts of many. She was predeceased by her beloved son, Timothy Hunter, whose memory she cherished deeply throughout her life. Janet leaves behind a legacy of love in the hearts of her surviving children, her son Timothy Hunter, as well as her four adoring grandchildren: Shawnee Hunter, Darien Warrick, Mackayla Hunter, and Kyle Warrick. Janet was also blessed with the joy of being a great-grandmother to two precious great-grandchildren, who brought her endless delight and pride. Throughout her life, Janet was known for her kindness, her generous heart, and her willingness to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. Her home was always a welcoming haven, filled with warmth, laughter, and the aroma of her famous homemade meals. Her family and friends will forever treasure the memories of the countless gatherings where Janet’s laughter was the music that filled the room. Janet had a profound love for nature, often spending her mornings tending to her garden, where she found solace and a connection to the world around her. Her garden was a reflection of her nurturing soul, blossoming with vibrant colors and life, much like the way she nurtured and cared for those she loved. Her passing leaves a void in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing her, but her spirit will continue to guide and inspire her family as they carry forward the lessons of love and kindness she imparted. Her legacy is one of grace, compassion, and enduring love. A service to celebrate Janet’s remarkable life will be held on February 27, 2026, at 10:30 a.m. at the Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home, located at 2402 S Irby St, Florence, SC 29505. Friends and family are invited to gather in remembrance of her beautiful life and to honor the indelible impact she made on all those who knew her. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to a charity of your choice, in Janet’s memory, as a testament to her generous spirit and her lifelong commitment to helping others. Janet Hunter will be dearly missed, but her spirit will live on in the hearts of her family and friends, forever cherished and remembered with love.
