Janet Hudson Ruth

Janet Hudson Ruth was born on May 16, 1969, in New Bern, NC to Minnie Hudson and Thomas Hudson. She peacefully departed this life on July 1, 2026, at her residence in New Bern, North Carolina, at the age of 57. Janet was a lifelong resident of New Bern. She graduated from New Bern High School in 1987 and continued her education at Kee Business College in Chesapeake, Virginia, where she earned her associate degree in 1989. Her determination and commitment to learning reflected the strength and perseverance that defined her life. Janet was a devoted wife and a loving mother. She cherished her family deeply and found her greatest joy in loving and supporting those around her. A faithful, longtime member of Wesley Covenant Church, Janet loved God above all and dedicated her life to serving her family, friends, and community. She was known for her generous heart, warm conversations, artistic talents, and exceptional cooking and baking. Janet found great joy in blessing others and had a remarkable gift for making people feel welcomed and valued, never meeting a stranger and always enjoying meaningful conversation. Above all, she was a giver who found great joy in blessing others with her time, love, and compassion. She leaves to cherish her precious memories her beloved husband, Timothy Ruth; her son, Timothy Ruth II; her loving sisters, Sandra Sampson, Robin Hautman, Jacqueline Jackson (Dereck), Vanessa Hopkins, Shelia Ward (Billy Ray), and Stacy Riddick; her uncles Ernest Moore (Karen) and Charles Moore (Mary) and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and dear friends whose lives she touched in countless ways. Janet was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Minnie Hudson; her daughter, Ebony Ruth; her sister, Barbara Hudson; and her niece, Thomasa McKeithan. Though Janet's earthly journey has ended, the love she shared, the faith she lived, and the countless lives she blessed will remain a lasting legacy. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
