It is with profound sadness and a deep sense of loss that we announce the passing of Janet Fussell, a cherished wife, devoted mother, beloved grandmother, and dear friend, who left this world on February 16, 2026, at the age of 79. Janet passed away peacefully, surrounded by the love of her family, after valiantly battling pancreatic cancer. Her departure from this life leaves an irreplaceable void in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know her. Born on November 29, 1946, in the quaint town of Payette, Idaho, Janet was the cherished daughter of Rex and Shirley Sorick. She was predeceased by her loving parents, whose guiding spirits undoubtedly welcomed her with open arms in the afterlife. Janet’s life was a testament to love, resilience, and unwavering devotion to her family and friends. A brilliant student, Janet graduated from Pendleton High School in 1964, always at the top of her class. Her passion for learning led her to Eastern Oregon College, where she embarked on a journey to become a teacher. However, life had other plans for Janet, and in 1966, she married the love of her life, Robert "Rob" Fussell, in the charming Sandy Baptist Chapel. Together, they embarked on 59 years of a loving relationship, navigating the challenges of life side by side, and building a family that became the center of Janet’s universe. Janet and Rob's marriage was a testament to enduring love and partnership, a beacon of unity and strength. Janet dedicated her life to her roles as a devoted wife, a nurturing mother to her son Kelly (and his wife Meg) and daughter Robin (and her husband Randy), and a doting grandmother to her granddaughters Courtney and Taylor. Her legacy of love extends to her great-grandbabies, Ryker and Waylon, who will grow up knowing the warmth of their great-grandmother’s spirit through the stories passed down by family. Janet had an extraordinary ability to turn a house into a home. Her flair for creating welcoming spaces was evident in the handmade treasures that adorned her home, the vibrant live plants that brought life to every corner, and the delicious meals that filled her kitchen with love and laughter. Her Christmas, Thanksgiving, and birthday celebrations were legendary, drawing family and friends together in joyous gatherings that left lasting memories. Beyond her family, Janet was blessed with a wide circle of lifelong friends, each of whom was touched by her grace and kindness. Her sister, Julie, shared a special bond with Janet, and together they created countless cherished memories. Janet's life was enriched by her love for travel, particularly vacations in Hawaii and touring across the USA. These adventures were always more meaningful when shared with her children, their spouses, and her grandchildren. Janet's legacy is one of unwavering love and generosity. Her selfless nature and boundless spirit left an indelible mark on the lives of all who knew her. Though she has left this earthly plane, her essence lives on in the hearts of her family and friends. In heaven, we believe she now fully understands the profound impact she had on us all. A celebration of Janet’s life will be held to honor her memory and the immeasurable love she shared with the world. As we come together to remember Janet, we find solace in knowing that she is at peace, watching over us with a smile, forever our guiding light. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to organizations supporting pancreatic cancer research, ensuring that Janet’s legacy continues to make a difference in the lives of others.
