Janet Burgess

December 22, 1944 — March 12, 2026

It is with profound sadness and deep love that we announce the passing of Janet Burgess, who left this world peacefully on March 12, 2026, at Trinity Nursing Home, surrounded by the love and warmth of her family. Born on December 22, 1944, in Logan, West Virginia, Janet lived a life filled with love, laughter, and selfless devotion to her family and community. Janet was the cherished daughter of Jess and Flossie Hensley. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Luther Burgess, with whom she spent a remarkable 61 years of marriage. Luther passed in December 2025, and while their physical presence is deeply missed, their spirits and love remain an everlasting bond. Janet was also predeceased by her brothers Bobby, Donald, and Joe, and her sisters Donetta, Peggy, Pat, and Holly. Janet is survived by her devoted son, Luke, and his wife, Stephanie. Her legacy of love continues through her granddaughters, Hannah Rachman (Stephen) and Amiliah Bradley (Chance), and her great-grandsons, Troy and Noah, who brought immense joy and pride to her life. Janet's career began at Logan Manufacturing, and she later found fulfillment in running Jan's Bargain Center until her well-deserved retirement. Her work ethic and dedication were only surpassed by her passion for nurturing and uplifting those around her. A woman of many talents, Janet found great joy in sewing and shared her culinary skills with her family. She was always eager to impart a recipe or teach her loved ones how to cook, creating delicious meals that were as warm and inviting as her heart. Janet's generosity knew no bounds; she was always ready to lend a helping hand to those in need, embodying the spirit of kindness and compassion. Janet's greatest joy was her family, and she relished every opportunity to spend time with her son and grandchildren. Her stories about them were filled with pride, and her eyes would light up with love as she shared their achievements and adventures. In honor of Janet's wishes, the family will hold a private service to celebrate the lives of both Janet and Luther at a later date. In this time of remembrance, the family asks that you cherish your loved ones, as Janet so dearly cherished hers. Janet Burgess leaves behind a legacy of love, generosity, and unwavering devotion to family and friends. Her memory will forever be etched in the hearts of those who knew and loved her. As we say goodbye, we remember her as a beacon of love and kindness, a guiding light that will continue to illuminate our paths. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to a charity of your choice in honor of Janet's spirit of giving and helping those in need.
