In Loving Memory of Janet Burgess
December 21, 1944 - March 12, 2026
Janet Burgess, beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on March 12, 2026, at Trinity Nursing Home, leaving behind a legacy of love and kindness that will be cherished for generations. Born on December 21, 1944, in Logan, West Virginia, Janet was the cherished daughter of Jess and Flossie Hensley.
Janet's life was a tapestry woven with the golden threads of family, community, and compassion. She was a devoted wife to Luther Burgess, whom she married on January 24, 1964. Together, they celebrated 61 wonderful years of marriage, until Luther's passing in December 2025. Their enduring love story was an inspiration to all who knew them.
Janet is predeceased by her loving husband, Luther, and her dear siblings, brothers Bobby, Donald, and Joe, and sisters Donetta, Peggy, Pat, and Holly. Despite these losses, Janet's heart remained full of the love of her surviving family members: her devoted son, Luke, and his wife, Stephanie; her cherished granddaughters, Hannah (Stephen) Rachman and Amiliah (Chance) Bradley and Camryn Burgess; and her precious great-grandsons, Troy and Noah.
Throughout her life, Janet was a woman of remarkable strength and unwavering generosity. Her career at Logan Manufacturing was marked by dedication and diligence, traits she carried into her entrepreneurial venture with Jan's Bargain Center, which she ran with pride and passion until her retirement.
Janet's hands were never idle. She found joy and solace in sewing, creating beautiful pieces that reflected her creative spirit. Her home was a haven of warmth where she delighted in teaching her family beloved recipes, cultivating not only culinary skills but also nurturing bonds that would last a lifetime. Her grandchildren were the light of her life, and she never missed an opportunity to express her pride in their accomplishments.
A private ceremony will be held at a later date to honor Janet and Luther, allowing family and friends to gather and celebrate the remarkable lives they led together. The family extends their deepest gratitude for the love and support they have received during this time.
As we say goodbye to Janet, we remember her as a beacon of love, her heart always open to those in need. Her legacy is one of compassion, resilience, and an unwavering dedication to her family. In our memories, she remains a guiding light, whose warmth and wisdom will forever be cherished.
May Janet Burgess's gentle soul rest in eternal peace, reunited with her beloved Luther, and may her spirit continue to watch over her family with love and grace.
