It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Janel Archuleta Thompson, a cherished soul and beloved member of our family, who left us on April 26, 2026, at the age of 51. Born on December 27, 1974, in the vibrant city of Denver, Colorado, Janel was a beacon of joy and resilience, touching the lives of all who knew her.
Janel was the beloved daughter of Alice Rael and Jim Briggs, who instilled in her the values of kindness and perseverance. Her life was marked by both joyous celebrations and profound challenges, which she met with unwavering strength and an infectious sense of humor. Janel's laughter was a gift she shared freely, brightening even the darkest days.
Though her journey was marked by the heartbreak of losing her older daughter, Telaya Zubia, her husband Arturo Zuniga, and her youngest daughter, Sky-Lou Thompson, Janel carried their memories with her, finding solace in the love of her surviving family. She is survived by her devoted mother, Alice, her sister, Natilee Thompson, her husband and friend, Antonio Archuleta, and her steadfast companion and roommate, Bruce Bernard. Her legacy continues through her daughters, Audra Zubia and Kyla Thompson, who were the pride and joy of her life, as well as her eight cherished grandchildren, who will carry forward her spirit of laughter and love.
Janel's career was a testament to her versatility and dedication. She worked tirelessly in a variety of roles, her skilled hands and industrious nature serving as the backbone of her many endeavors. Her love for music, singing, and dancing was as vibrant as her personality, and she never missed an opportunity to turn a gathering into a joyful celebration.
Known for her quick wit and an unparalleled ability to make people laugh, Janel was a joker at heart, turning mundane moments into cherished memories. Her laughter was a balm, her humor a bridge that connected her with others in profound and meaningful ways.
A memorial service to celebrate Janel's life will be held on May 14, 2026, at 11:00 AM at Romero Funeral Home. We invite all who knew and loved her to join us in honoring her memory and the indelible mark she left upon our hearts.
