Jane Elizabeth Jones

September 11, 1961 — April 17, 2026

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Jane Elizabeth Jones, a beloved mother, grandmother, daughter, and friend, who left this world on April 17, 2026, at the age of 64. Jane passed away peacefully at her home in North Carolina, surrounded by the love of her family, after a courageous battle with cancer that spanned over 15 years. Born on September 11, 1961, to Emma and Williams Hunter, Jane brought light and joy from the very start. Raised in North Carolina, she cherished her roots and carried the warmth of Southern hospitality with her wherever she went. Jane's life was a testament to resilience, love, and compassion—a life truly well-lived. Jane dedicated 32 years of her life to nursing, serving as a Registered Nurse. Her dedication and skill were unmatched, and she was often regarded as one of the best in her field. Her kind nature and gentle touch provided comfort and hope to countless patients and their families. Her colleagues remember her not only for her professional excellence but also for her ability to bring a smile to anyone's face, even in the most challenging times. Though she never married, Jane shared a beautiful and profound partnership with Billie Evans, who sadly passed away in 2011. Their bond was one of deep love and mutual respect, a partnership that enriched the lives of both in immeasurable ways. Jane was the proud mother of her daughter, Elizabeth Sivers, and the doting grandmother to her grandson, Christopher Cabaniss. Her family was her greatest joy, and she treasured the moments spent fishing, painting, and simply being together. Jane's home was always filled with laughter, love, and the aroma of freshly painted canvases—a testament to her passion for art and life. In addition to her parents and partner, Jane was predeceased by Grayson Christopher Cabaniss, who remained by her side up until her final moments. She is survived by her daughter Elizabeth, her grandson Christopher, and a wide circle of friends and colleagues who will feel her absence keenly. Jane's legacy is one of kindness, joy, and an unwavering spirit. She has left behind a world that is better for having her in it, and her family takes comfort in the countless memories they shared with her. In her final wishes, Jane expressed the hope that those she leaves behind will find happiness and rejoice in the life she lived—a life filled with love, laughter, and an indomitable spirit. In accordance with her wishes, a private funeral ceremony will be held to honor Jane’s life. Her family asks that in lieu of flowers, those wishing to honor her memory do so by spreading kindness in their own communities, as Jane did every day of her life. May her soul rest in peace, and may her memory forever be a blessing to all who knew her.
