Jane Cecil Bradt

August 25, 1945 — February 21, 2026

It is with heavy hearts and profound gratitude for a life well-lived that we announce the passing of Jane Cecil Bradt, who departed this world peacefully on February 21, 2026, after a short bout with pneumonia. Born on August 25, 1945, in Troy, New York, Jane was a beacon of strength, love, and resilience. Jane was the beloved daughter of Robert C. Russom and Cecil Jane Russom, who predeceased her. She spoke often of the values they instilled in her, which she carried throughout her life. A proud graduate of Mechanicville High School in 1964, Jane embarked on a career that showcased her remarkable dedication and intelligence. She began her professional journey as a keypunch operator with the State of New York, later joining Samaritan Hospital, where she dedicated over 30 years of service as a payroll specialist and computer programmer until her retirement. Raising her two sons, Brian and Michael, as a single mother during the 1970s and 1980s, Jane exemplified unwavering love, support, and determination. Despite the challenges, she often worked two jobs to ensure her family was cared for, demonstrating a commitment to her sons that remained steadfast throughout her life. Jane's life was richly blessed with family. She is survived by her beloved sons, Brian Bradt and Michael Bradt, along with Michael’s spouse, Michelle Bradt. Her legacy continues through her cherished grandchildren: Brian Bradt Jr., Monica Bradt, Robert Bradt, Amanda Bradt, Nathan Bradt, and Nicholas Bradt, and her adored great-grandchildren: Selena, Joe, Logan, Finely, Lillian, Allison, Landon, and Sofia. Each of them carries forward her spirit and the lessons she imparted. Jane's life was illuminated by simple joys. She loved playing computer games and treasured the time spent with her family and grandchildren, often accompanied by her beloved cat, Chloe. Her home was a gathering place, filled with laughter, warmth, and the sweet chaos of family. Her friendships were as enduring as they were dear, with Pat and Carol standing by her side through life's many seasons. Jane's kindness and grace touched all who knew her, leaving an indelible mark on their hearts. A funeral service to honor and celebrate Jane's life will be held on March 12, 2026, at 12:00 PM at Miller Funeral Home, located at 3200 Golansky Blvd, Woodbridge, VA 22192. Family and friends are invited to gather and remember a woman whose life was a testament to love, resilience, and devotion. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to be made in Jane's memory to a charity of your choice, as a tribute to her generous spirit and compassionate heart. As we say goodbye to Jane, we do so with a profound sense of gratitude for the love she shared and the legacy she leaves behind. Her life was a beautiful tapestry of devotion, strength, and grace, and she will be dearly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
