Born on April 2, 1940, in Boston, Massachusetts, Jane lived a life full of warmth, love, and laughter, leaving behind a legacy that will forever be treasured by those who knew her.
Jane was a devoted mother to her two children, William Bailey Jr. and Janice Avant, who were the center of her world. She was also the proud and loving grandmother to six grandchildren, all of whom brought her immense joy and happiness throughout her life. Her family was her greatest treasure, and she showered them with endless love and care, creating countless memories that will be cherished for generations to come.
A beacon of kindness and grace, Jane was an active member of John Baptist Church for over 50 years. Her faith and commitment to her church community were unwavering, and she found great purpose and joy in serving others. Her beautiful smile could always lighten the mood and bring comfort to those around her, a true testament to her gentle spirit and compassionate heart.
Jane had a passion for cooking and traveling, pursuits that allowed her to express her creativity and explore the world beyond her doorstep. She delighted in preparing meals that brought her family together, each dish a testament to her love and culinary skill. Her adventures around the globe enriched her life and broadened her perspective, and she often shared these experiences with her family, instilling in them a love for discovery and learning.
A celebration of Jane's life will be held on June 13, 2026, at Union Bethel AME Church, located at 6810 Floral Park Rd, Brandywine, Maryland 20613. Friends and family are invited to join in honoring a life well-lived and to share in the memories of a woman who touched so many lives with her kindness and love.
The family wishes to extend their heartfelt thanks to Southern Maryland Hospital for their tremendous care and support during Jane's final days. Their compassion and dedication provided great comfort and peace to Jane and her family.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations be made in Jane's memory to John Baptist Church, in recognition of her lifelong commitment to her faith and community. Jane Bailey's spirit will forever live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her. She leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and faith that will continue to inspire us all.
