Jan Byron Blakely

It is with heavy hearts and profound respect that we announce the passing of Jan Byron Blakely, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend. Jan departed this world peacefully on September 19, 2026, surrounded by the warmth and love of his family and friends. Born on July 2, 1940, in the Township of Avon, Jan lived a life full of integrity, service, and dedication. Jan was a devoted son to Clayton and Ruth Blakely, who instilled in him the values and virtues that he carried throughout his life. He dedicated his life to serving others, beginning with his time as a proud Marine. His love for his country was equaled only by the love he had for his family, and his service in the Marines was a testament to his unwavering commitment and courage. Jan was blessed with a beautiful family. He was the beloved husband of Patti Blakely, whose partnership and love were the cornerstone of his life. Together, they created a family filled with love and laughter. Though he was predeceased by his son, Jeffrey Blakely, Jan’s legacy continues through his nine grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren, who were a source of immense joy and pride for him. Jan’s life was a tapestry woven with the threads of kindness, generosity, and devotion. His gentle spirit and warm smile left a lasting impression on everyone he met. He was a man of few words but profound actions, always ready to lend a helping hand or share a word of wisdom. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Jan’s honor to the Kurt Gibson Parkinson organization. This cause was close to Jan's heart, and supporting it would be a meaningful tribute to his life and memory. As we bid farewell to Jan, we celebrate a life well-lived and a man well-loved. His legacy will endure in the hearts of all who knew him, and his spirit will continue to guide and inspire us. May he rest in peace, surrounded by the love he so generously gave to others.
