It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce the passing of Jamon Benson, who departed this life on June 8, 2026. Jamon passed away peacefully at his cherished home in Detroit, Michigan, surrounded by the love of his family, after bravely facing his illness with courage and grace.
Born on March 30, 1979, in the vibrant city of Detroit, Jamon was the beloved son of the late Annie Burton and James Benson. From a young age, Jamon exhibited a zest for life and a warm spirit that would touch all those he met. His journey through life was deeply intertwined with the city that shaped him and the family that adored him.
Jamon was a dedicated husband to Mandi Benson, his beloved partner of 18 wonderful years. Together, they built a life filled with love, laughter, and shared dreams. Their union brought forth five beautiful children, Jayla, Jamon, Jazmine, Justin, and Skyler, who were the light of Jamon's life. As a family man, Jamon cherished every moment spent with his loved ones, always placing family at the heart of his existence.
Education was an important aspect of Jamon's life. He was a proud alumnus of Denby High School and furthered his education at Ferris State University. His dedication to learning was evident throughout his life, as he continuously sought knowledge and understanding.
Jamon's professional journey led him to a fulfilling career at General Motors, where he worked diligently for 16 years as a Hilo driver. Known for his strong work ethic and commitment, Jamon was respected and admired by his colleagues. His contributions to the company were significant, and he took great pride in his work.
Beyond his professional life, Jamon was a man of diverse interests and passions. He was an avid sports enthusiast, often found cheering on his favorite teams with unwavering spirit. However, it was the moments spent with family that brought him the greatest joy. Whether gathered around for a game or simply enjoying each other's company, Jamon found happiness in the warmth and love of his family.
Jamon leaves behind a legacy of love and resilience. He is survived by his devoted wife, Mandi, and their five children, who will continue to carry forward his memory and spirit. He is also survived by his siblings, Natoya Fields, Unique Burton, Korey Benson, and Ujuan Burton, who will forever cherish the bond they shared with him.
Jamon was predeceased by his parents, Annie Burton and James Benson, and his brother, Nehru Fields. Though his family mourns their loss, they find solace in knowing Jamon is reunited with those who preceded him, embraced in their eternal love.
