Jamon Benson
March 30, 1979 — June 8, 2026
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Jamon Benson, a remarkable soul who departed this world peacefully on June 8, 2026, at the age of 47, at his home after valiantly battling his illness. Jamon was born on March 30, 1979, in the vibrant city of Detroit, Michigan, a place that shaped his life and inspired his indomitable spirit.
Jamon was the beloved son of the late Annie Burton and James Benson, who instilled in him the values of kindness, resilience, and love. He was also preceded in death by his cherished brother, Nehru Fields. Despite the loss, Jamon carried forward their legacy with grace and strength, becoming a beacon of hope and joy to those who knew him.
A proud alumnus of Denby High School, Jamon went on to further his education at Ferris State University, where he cultivated his passion for learning and developed friendships that lasted a lifetime. His professional journey led him to General Motors, where he dedicatedly served as a Hilo driver for 16 years. Jamon was respected and loved by his colleagues, who admired his unwavering work ethic and warm-hearted nature.
Jamon's true joy in life came from his family. He was the beloved husband of 18 years to Mandi Benson, who stood by his side through every joy and challenge life presented. Together, they built a loving home and raised five beautiful children: Jayla, Jamon, Jazmine, Justin, and Skyler. Jamon was a devoted father who cherished every moment spent with his family, creating memories that will be forever treasured.
Surrounded by love, Jamon is survived by his siblings Natoya Fields, Unique Burton, Korey Benson, and Ujuan Burton, who will forever remember him as a source of laughter and strength. Though he leaves behind no grandchildren, his legacy of love and kindness will be carried on by his children and all who were privileged to know him.
Jamon had a profound love for sports, often found cheering for his favorite teams with an infectious enthusiasm that could light up any room. However, it was the simple moments spent with his family that brought him the greatest joy. Whether gathered around for a meal or sharing stories and laughter, Jamon valued every moment spent with loved ones.
As we gather to celebrate the life of Jamon Benson, we remember a man who lived with integrity, loved deeply, and touched the lives of all who crossed his path. Though we mourn his passing, we find comfort in knowing that his spirit will forever remain a guiding light in our hearts.
A memorial service will be held to honor Jamon's life and legacy. Details will be shared with family and friends in the coming days. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Jamon's memory to a charity of your choice, reflecting his generous spirit and commitment to helping others.
Jamon Benson's life was a testament to the power of love, family, and community. He will be deeply missed but never forgotten. May he rest in eternal peace, embraced by the love of those who went before him.
