It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce the passing of Jamie Dean Parnell, who left us on March 9, 2026, at the age of 66, after a courageous battle with cancer. Jamie passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones at a hospital, leaving behind a legacy that will be cherished by all who knew him. Born on February 23, 1960, in Mansfield, Ohio, Jamie was the beloved son of the late William C. Parnell and Velva Oklin Parnell. He was a brother to the late Leonard Coy Parnell, and his memory will live on through the stories and laughter shared by his surviving siblings: Matthew Parnell, Jeannette Parnell, Jeannie Parnell, Wanda Rodriguez, Judy Jones, Betty (Andre) Carr, and Cathy. Jamie was a devoted and loving partner to Cheryl, with whom he shared many wonderful years. Their bond was an inspiration to all who knew them. He was a proud and caring father to his children, Jamie Dean, Benjamin, and Kevin, who were his pride and joy. Jamie's love extended to his numerous grandchildren, nieces, and nephews, each of whom held a special place in his heart. A passionate automobile mechanic by trade, Jamie was known for his incredible skill and dedication in his work. His enthusiasm for cars was infectious, and he took great joy in sharing his knowledge and passion with those around him. To his colleagues and customers, Jamie was more than just a mechanic; he was a trusted friend and advisor, always ready with a warm smile and helping hand. Jamie was a man of simple pleasures. He found joy in the little things, whether it was spending a quiet afternoon tinkering under the hood of a car or enjoying a family barbecue on a sunny day. His laughter was contagious, his spirit unwavering, and his heart generous beyond measure. Though he faced many challenges, especially in his final years, Jamie's resilience and strength were a testament to his character. He taught us the importance of perseverance and the power of love, even in the face of adversity. His legacy is one of kindness, love, and an indomitable spirit that will continue to inspire all who knew him. As we say goodbye to Jamie, we find solace in the memories we shared and the love he left behind. His life was a blessing, and his memory will be a treasure. He will be deeply missed but never forgotten. A celebration of Jamie's life will be held at a later date, where friends and family will gather to honor and remember the remarkable man he was. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to a cancer charity of your choice in Jamie's memory, to continue the fight he so bravely faced. Rest in peace, dear Jamie. Your journey on earth may have ended, but your spirit will forever light our hearts.
