James Wilson, a husband, father, grandfather, and friend, was born on November 27, 1959, in McIntosh, Georgia. He peacefully departed this world on August 14, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of kindness, laughter, and unwavering dedication to his family and community.
James was the beloved son of Albertha and Joe Wilson, and he was predeceased by his father, Joe. He is survived by his wife, Bertha Wilson. Their four children: Tiffany Wilson, Tequila Menard, Tunesha Wilson, and Tavaris Wilson, who all carry forward his spirit and values.
As a proud grandfather, James found immense joy in the lives of his nine grandchildren: Toni Woods, Jaden Fisher, Leon Woods IV, Tatiana Wilson, Leah Menard, Layla Menard, Jayla Fisher, Tavaris Wilson Jr., and Levi Woods. Each of them was a source of pride and happiness for him. James is also survived by his mother, Albertha Wilson, his sister, Sarah Vaugh, and his niece, Denise Johnson, who will all deeply feel his absence.
In his professional life, James was dedicated to serving others. He spent many years working at Jackson Memorial Hospital and Miami-Dade County Public Schools, where he was respected and admired by colleagues and peers alike. Beyond his career, James had a passion for life that was infectious to those around him. He delighted in listening to music, casting a line while fishing, and yard work, where he found peace and satisfaction.
Known for his DJ impersonations, James could light up a room with his laughter and jokes, making everyone feel at ease in his presence. He had a unique gift for bringing joy to others, and his warm-hearted nature will be missed by all who knew him.
A memorial service to celebrate James's life will be held on September 19, 2026, at 11:00 PM at the Rock of Ages Missionary Baptist Church, located at 2722 N.W. 55th St., Miami, FL 33142. Family and friends are invited to gather and honor the life of this remarkable man who touched so many hearts.
