It is with profound sadness yet deep gratitude for his life that we announce the passing of James Willie Earl, who departed this world peacefully at home on April 24, 2026, at the age of 71. Born on August 6, 1954, in Charlotte, James was the beloved son of the late Willie and Mable Earl, and brother to the late Gary Earl, who preceded him in death. James spent his formative years in Cary, where he graduated from Cary High School in 1972. Shortly after, he embarked on a remarkable journey of service to his country, enlisting in the United States Army in 1978. Throughout his distinguished military career, which spanned over two decades until his retirement in 2002, James exemplified dedication and honor, earning the respect and admiration of his peers and superiors alike. In 1976, James found the love of his life, Doreen Sylvia, and together they built a loving family and a strong and enduring partnership. Their union was blessed with seven wonderful children: Shakeera, Shemise, Janea, Jamya, K’Earl, James, and Antwon. As a devoted husband and father, James's love for his family was boundless, and his legacy will continue to thrive through his 14 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren, who brought him immense joy and pride. James was a man of many passions. An avid fisherman, he found peace and joy in the simple beauty of nature, often casting a line with the patience and grace that defined his character. His love for cooking was a gift he shared generously with family and friends, filling hearts and homes with warmth and delicious meals. James also had a soulful singing voice, which he used to uplift spirits and bring people together in harmony. A service to honor and celebrate James's life will be held on May 2, 2026, at 1:00 PM at Roseboro Mortuary, located at 4300 Statesboro Rd, Charlotte, NC 28268. Family, friends, and all whose lives were touched by James are invited to join in this celebration of a life well-lived. Though our hearts are heavy with his loss, James Willie Earl's spirit lives on in the cherished memories and the love he instilled in those around him. As the family reflects on his remarkable journey, they express a heartfelt message: "A life well lived, forever in our hearts."
