It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of James Ware Sr., a beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend, who left this world peacefully on May 13, 2026, at the age of 88. Born on February 11, 1938, in Starkville, Mississippi, James lived a life that was both rich in love and full of purpose, leaving an indelible imprint on all who were fortunate to know him.
James was the cherished son of Joshua Ware and Kathlyn Henley, whose values and love shaped the man he became. Though he is predeceased by his dear parents and beloved children Mary, Larry, and Joel, his legacy continues through his surviving children: James Ware Jr., Willie Mae, and Lillie Ware. He was a proud grandfather to 13 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren, each of whom brought immense joy to his life and will carry forward his legacy of love and resilience.
A graduate of Starkville High School, James was a celebrated football champion. His time on the field was a testament to his dedication, teamwork, and leadership—qualities he carried with him throughout his life. His professional journey led him to a long and fulfilling career at the steel mill, where his hard work and dedication were widely respected. James retired with pride, having not only provided for his family but also having set a remarkable example of perseverance and commitment.
Beyond his professional achievements, James had a deep appreciation for the simple pleasures of life. He found great joy in fishing and treasured the moments spent with his loved ones. His gentle spirit and steadfast character were evident to all who met him, and his wisdom, kindness, and quiet strength left a lasting impression.
James Ware Sr. was a proud member of the Greatest Generation, a man whose life was a testament to honesty, loyalty, and family. His life was marked by a strong work ethic and unwavering principles, and he valued these qualities above all else. His memory will continue to inspire those who knew him, a living legacy of strength and kindness.
A celebration of James’s life will be held on May 22, 2026, at 1:00 PM at the First Church Of God, located at 628 W Locust St, Paragould, Arkansas. Family and friends are invited to gather to honor his memory and share in the stories and love that he leaves behind.
Though James may no longer walk beside us, his strength, wisdom, and love will remain in our hearts forever. He lived a life marked by hard work, dedication, and kindness, touching the lives of all who knew him.
