James Walter Glenn Sr.
November 11, 1947 — March 29, 2026
It is with heavy hearts and profound gratitude for a life well-lived that we announce the passing of our beloved James Walter Glenn Sr., who departed this world peacefully on March 29, 2026, at the age of 78. Born on November 11, 1947, in Columbia, South Carolina, James's life was a tapestry of love, strength, and unwavering commitment to family, friends, and community.
James was a proud son of Columbia, where he received his education through the public school system, laying the foundation for a life characterized by hard work and dedication. His career as an OTR technician spanned nearly four decades, beginning at Miller Tire for 17 years, continuing at Miller Brother for 15 years, and culminating at Snyder Tire for 7 years, where he retired. James was respected by his colleagues for his exceptional work ethic and the honest, straightforward manner that endeared him to all who knew him.
To know James was to witness a man who never met a stranger. His heart was vast and welcoming, always ready to lend a hand or share a story. He was known for being a straight shooter who spoke his mind with clarity and conviction. Yet, beneath that forthright exterior lay a soul of profound kindness and empathy, attributes that those who knew him cherished deeply.
James was an avid pool player, a passion that brought him joy and camaraderie. He was a devoted fan of the Dallas Cowboys, engaging in spirited discussions about their plays and prospects. His love for the silver screen, especially western cowboy movies, was matched only by his enjoyment of new cinematic adventures. However, James's greatest joy was found in the time spent with his family, sharing laughter, love, and the simple pleasures of life.
His legacy lives on through his cherished children, James Glenn Jr. and Donna A. Glenn-Davis, and the joy of his 13 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren, who will carry forward the stories and values he instilled in them. Though his parents and brothers, Charles Glenn and Alex Glenn, predeceased him, their spirits undoubtedly welcomed him into eternal rest.
The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the medical staff who provided James with compassionate care during his illness, as well as to the family and friends who offered support, love, and strength during difficult times.
In remembering James Walter Glenn Sr., we celebrate a life of integrity, love, and resilience. His enduring spirit and the warmth of his presence will remain in the hearts of all who were blessed to know him.
James's life will be honored in a private family service, as per his wishes. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in his memory to a charity of your choice, spreading the kindness and generosity that James embodied throughout his life.
May his soul rest in peace, and may his memory be a guiding light to those he leaves behind.
