James Terrance Patteson
May 5, 1949 — February 25, 2026
It is with heavy hearts and profound love that we announce the peaceful passing of James Terrance Patteson, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, on February 25, 2026. Born on May 5, 1949, in the vibrant town of Fort Mead, Maryland, Terry, as he was affectionately known, lived a life rich in love, kindness, and unwavering devotion to his family and friends.
The son of the late James and Clara (Poole) Patterson, Terry was raised in a home that cherished warmth and compassion — values he carried with him throughout his life. He was predeceased by his beloved parents, but their legacy of love and integrity continued to shine brightly through him.
On September 25, 1982, in the charming town of Mentor, Ohio, Terry married the love of his life, September (Schwab) Patterson. Their union of over forty-three years was a testament to enduring love and companionship. Together, they built a family characterized by warmth, laughter, and a deep sense of togetherness.
Terry's life was a tapestry woven with the threads of his cherished family. He is survived by his devoted wife, September, who stood by his side through every moment of joy and every challenge. He was a proud and loving father to his children: Ashlei (Patterson) Deason, Aubrei (Patterson) Werner, Kodey Patterson (Allie), and Korei (Patterson) Teer (Lucas). Each of his children carries forward his legacy of kindness, strength, and resilience.
A doting grandfather, Terry found immense joy in the company of his grandchildren: Abagaile, Race, Amberly, and Colson. His eyes would light up with pride and love whenever he spoke of them, and he delighted in watching them grow, offering his wisdom and support at every turn.
Terry shared a special bond with his siblings, Brenda (Patterson), David Patterson (Kathy), and Michael Patterson. Their shared memories and unwavering support were a source of strength and joy throughout his life.
Terry's life was one of service and dedication, not only to his family but also to his community. His gentle spirit and generous heart touched the lives of many, and his absence leaves a profound void in the hearts of all who knew him.
In his final moments, Terry was surrounded by the love and comfort of his family at home, a fitting testament to a life lived with love and grace. Though he has left this world, his spirit lives on in the hearts of all who were fortunate to know him.
A celebration of Terry's life will be held at a later date, where family and friends will gather to honor his memory and share stories of the remarkable man he was.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Terry's memory to a charity of your choice, reflecting the spirit of giving and kindness that defined his life.
James Terrance Patteson will be dearly missed but never forgotten. His legacy of love, compassion, and integrity will continue to inspire those who were blessed to know him.
