James Temple
March 29, 1954 — May 28, 2026
It is with heavy hearts and profound respect that we announce the passing of James Temple, a beloved father, grandfather, brother, and friend, who departed this world on May 28, 2026, at the age of 72 after a valiant battle with cancer. Born on March 29, 1954, in Columbia, South Carolina, James lived a life marked by resilience, dedication, and unwavering love for his family and friends.
James was the cherished son of the late Norman and Mildred Temple. Growing up in Columbia, he graduated from Lower Richland High School in 1972. After high school, James briefly served his country with honor in the Air Force, reflecting his deep-seated values of service and duty.
For 45 years, James dedicated himself to a fulfilling career at Schneider Electric. During his tenure, he was known not just for his professionalism and commitment, but also for his kindness and integrity—a testament to the man he was both in and out of the workplace.
In 1986, James married the love of his life, Deborah Temple. Together, they built a beautiful life and shared 34 wonderful years of marriage before Deborah's passing due to cancer. Their union was blessed with two daughters, Amanda Maxwell and Stephanie Temple, who were the pride and joy of his life. James was a devoted father, and his love for his daughters was only matched by the adoration he held for his four grandchildren, who lovingly called him "Gpaw."
James found solace and joy in playing golf, often spending weekends on the green with his brother and friends. This pastime was more than just a sport for James; it was an opportunity to connect with loved ones, creating bonds and memories that would last a lifetime.
Known for his gentle spirit and generous heart, James was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He was a man of few words, but his actions spoke volumes, embodying the virtues of kindness, patience, and understanding. His legacy is one of love and compassion, leaving an indelible mark on all who had the privilege of knowing him.
James is survived by his daughters, Amanda Maxwell and Stephanie Temple, and his sister, Beth Davidson. He also leaves behind four grandchildren, who will continue to carry forward his legacy of love and kindness.
Friends and family are invited to honor James's life at a memorial service on June 4, 2026, at Thompson Funeral Home in Lexington, South Carolina. As we gather to celebrate his life, we remember James as a man who loved deeply and lived fully, whose memory will eternally remain in our hearts.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to a cancer charity of your choice, in memory of James and his late wife, Deborah, to continue the fight against the disease that has touched their lives so profoundly.
