James Stevens

May 19, 1970 — September 6, 2026

James Stevens, born on May 19, 1970, in the vibrant city of Chicago, peacefully departed from this world on September 6, 2026, at home, following a courageous battle with illness. His journey through life was marked by kindness, resilience, and an unwavering love for those around him. James was the cherished son of John Stevens and was preceded in death by his beloved family member, David Stevens. He carried the memory of his late family members in his heart, using their love and legacy to guide him throughout his life. A man of great character and warmth, James was the anchor of his family. He leaves behind a profound legacy, survived by his devoted family members: David Stevens, Lance Stevens, Devon Stevens, Tangeva Stevens, Cortez Stevens, and Corey Stevens. His family was the center of his world, and he took immense pride in their accomplishments and the lives they've built. His legacy extends further to his four treasured great-grandchildren, whose laughter and innocence brought him immense joy and peace. James enriched the lives of everyone he encountered with his gentle spirit, quick wit, and genuine compassion. He was a beacon of hope and strength, always ready to lend a helping hand or offer a listening ear. His impact on the community was profound, as he continuously sought to make the world around him a better place. Family, friends, and all whose lives were touched by James are invited to celebrate his life on September 14, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. The service will be held at Gatlings Chapel, located at 10133 S Halsted St. It will be a time to reflect on the beautiful memories shared with James and honor the remarkable life he led. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to a charity of your choice, honoring James's generous spirit and commitment to giving back to the community. His legacy of love and kindness will continue to inspire all who knew him. Though James has left this earthly realm, his spirit and the love he gave so freely will remain with us forever. May he rest in eternal peace, knowing he was deeply loved and will be dearly missed.
