James Sheeran, a cherished soul and devoted family man, peacefully passed away at his home on July 9, 2026, at the age of 65. Born on October 11, 1960, in Chicago, Illinois, James was the beloved son of Dorothy Mansfield and the late Joseph H. Sheeran. He was a loving brother to the late Robin Sheeran and is survived by his siblings, Timothy Sheeran, Kirsten M. De Leon, Kelly J. Sheeran. James shared 52 beautiful years with his beloved partner, Kimberly G. Sheeran, a testament to their enduring love and companionship. Together, they built a nurturing and joyous home, raising a family that became the center of his world. He was a devoted and proud father to his children, Matthew J. Sheeran; Michael J. Sheeran and his wife, Gabby (Kipp) Sheeran; Sara M. Sheeran; and Julia M. Martinez and her husband, Calvin. His legacy is further enriched by the love of his ten grandchildren, each of whom held a special place in his heart. Educated at Catholic Central High School, James was a brilliant mechanical engineer, self-taught and always eager to lend his expertise to others. His career was marked by a passion for problem-solving and innovation, qualities that endeared him to colleagues and friends alike. James was a man of many interests and talents. His love for the outdoors was evident in his fondness for dirt bike riding, camping, and fishing, activities he often enjoyed in the company of family and friends. His green thumb was legendary, and he delighted in gardening, often incorporating his homegrown vegetables into cherished family meals. His appreciation for the simple joys of life, combined with his warm spirit, made every gathering a celebration of love and laughter. His family and friendships were the cornerstones of his life. Known for his generous heart and unwavering dedication, James was a loving partner, brother, father, and grandfather. His kindness extended beyond his human family, as he held a special affection for animals, always ensuring they felt the warmth of his compassion. A celebration of James's life will take place on Tuesday, July 21, 2026, at 1:00 PM at Simple Traditions, located at 3131 S. Division, Grand Rapids. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to assist with funeral costs. James Sheeran's legacy will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. His life was a testament to the power of love, family, and friendship, and he will be fondly remembered and deeply missed by all.
