It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that the family of James Sheeran announces his peaceful passing on July 9, 2026, at the age of 65, in the comfort of his home. Born on October 11, 1960, in Chicago, Illinois, James was a man of exceptional warmth, intelligence, and kindness. He was the cherished son of Dorothy Mansfield and the late Joseph H. Sheeran. Preceded in death by his dear brother, Robin Sheeran, James now joins them in eternal peace. For 50 wonderful years, James shared an inseparable bond with his beloved partner, Kimberly G. Sheeran. Together, they built a life filled with love and laughter, nurturing a beautiful family that includes their children: Matthew J. Sheeran, Michael J. & Gabrielle (Kipp) Sheeran, Sara M. Sheeran, and Julia M. & Calvin Martinez. James was also the proud grandfather of ten cherished grandchildren, each of whom brought immense joy to his life. James is also survived by his siblings: brother Timothy Sheeran and sisters Kirsten M. De Leon and Kelly J. Sheeran. They, along with his extended family and countless friends, will forever remember his radiant smile and unwavering positivity. A graduate of Catholic Central High School, James possessed a brilliant mind and a profound passion for engineering. As a self-taught mechanical engineer, he dedicated his life to solving problems and helping others, earning the respect and admiration of all who knew him. His career was marked by innovation and a tireless commitment to excellence. Beyond his professional achievements, James was a man of many interests and talents. He found joy in the great outdoors, whether riding dirt bikes, camping, or fishing with family and friends. His green thumb was evident in his thriving garden, where he grew an abundance of vegetables that he loved to transform into delicious meals. James was a compassionate soul, extending his kindness to all creatures great and small, and he had a special place in his heart for animals. James's life was a testament to the power of love, friendship, and family. He was a caring, trustworthy, and supportive presence, always ready to lend a helping hand or offer a listening ear. His legacy of love and generosity will continue to inspire all who were fortunate to know him. A memorial service to celebrate James's life will be held on July 21, 2026, at 1:00 PM at Simple Traditions, located at 3131 S. Division, Grand Rapids. Family and friends are invited to gather and honor the memory of a remarkable man whose spirit will forever remain in our hearts.
