It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of James Sheeran on July 9, 2026, at the age of 65, in the comfort of his home. Born on October 11, 1960, in Chicago, Illinois, James was a man whose warmth, intellect, and kindness touched everyone he met. James was the beloved partner of Kimberly Sheeran, with whom he shared a remarkable journey of 52 years. Together, they built a family rooted in love, compassion, and togetherness. He was the cherished father of Matthew J. Sheeran, Michael J. & Gabby (Kipp) Sheeran, Sara M. Sheeran, Julia M. & Calvin Martinez, Timmathy Sheeran, Kirsten M. DeLeon, and Kelly J. Sheeran & Joni Hodsdon. James was also the proud grandfather to ten grandchildren, each of whom brought immense joy to his life. James was predeceased by his father, Joseph H. Sheeran, and his sister, Robin Sheeran. He is survived by his devoted mother, Dorothy Mansfield, and his loving partner, children, and grandchildren, who will continue to carry his spirit forward. A graduate of Catholic Central High School, James pursued a career as a mechanical engineer, a field where his brilliance and innate mechanical skills shone brightly. A self-taught engineer and mechanic, he was always eager to lend a helping hand, solving problems with ingenuity and grace. His colleagues and friends admired his sharp intellect and thoughtful approach to every challenge. Beyond his professional accomplishments, James was a man of varied interests. He found solace in the great outdoors, often camping and fishing with his family and friends. He was an avid dirt biker, a passionate gardener, and a creative cook who loved to share meals and laughter around the table. James also had a keen interest in building electronics, a hobby that reflected his lifelong curiosity and love of learning. James treasured his family and friendships above all else. He was a devoted partner, a loving father and grandfather, and a friend to many. His kindness extended to all living creatures, and he had a special place in his heart for animals. A celebration of James's life will be held on July 21, 2026, at 1:00 PM at Simple Traditions, located at 3131 S. Division, Grand Rapids, Michigan. Family and friends are invited to gather in remembrance of a truly remarkable man whose life was a testament to love, kindness, and resilience.
