James Richard King, born August 14, 1932, in Springfield, Missouri, passed away peacefully at home on May 14, 2026, at the age of 93. A beloved husband, father, brother, grandfather, and friend, James lived a life full of dedication, warmth, and love. James was the cherished son of Charles B. King and Fleeta King (Murphy), who preceded him in death. He was also predeceased by his siblings, Bob King, Paul King, Betty Kelso, and Minnie Adcock. James now joins them in eternal rest. His life was enriched by the love of his surviving family members, including his devoted wife, Eleanor P. King (affectionately known as Sally), his brothers Bill Clinton King and Joe Don King, and his sister Bonnie Adcock. James was the proud father of four sons: Richard Kevin King, James W. King, Michael D. King, and James D. King. He also leaves behind a large and loving family that includes his son-in-law, Joey Sunzeri, his daughter-in-law, Annette King, and a multitude of nephews, nieces, cousins, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren, who will all continue to celebrate his legacy. James's educational journey began with his high school graduation, followed by his pursuit of higher education. On May 10, 1955, he graduated from the Department of the Air Force, where he was part of a pioneering program for computer programming. He was a trailblazer in his field, dedicating over 40 years of his career as a computer programmer analyst, culminating in his retirement from Intel in Oregon. James's professional accomplishments were matched by his dedication to his family and community. An avid woodworker and home remodeler, he took immense joy in sharing his skills and passions with his children. Whether through the YMCA, Cub Scouts, or Little League, James was a constant presence, teaching his children to ride bicycles and instilling in them the values of responsibility and care. The family expresses their deep love and admiration for James, fondly remembering him as a guiding light in their lives. "We loved our Dad, Brother, Uncle, Cousin, Grandpa, Great Grandpa, and Great Great Grandpa," they shared in a heartfelt message. His legacy of love, kindness, and dedication will continue to inspire all who knew him. James Richard King’s life was a testament to the power of love, family, and hard work. He will be profoundly missed and forever cherished. His memory will live on in the hearts of his extensive family and all those who were fortunate enough to know him.
