In Loving Memory

James Phillip Reed
November 30, 1971 — May 2, 2026
It is with profound sadness and heartfelt gratitude for a life well-lived that we announce the passing of James Phillip Reed, who departed from this world on May 2, 2026, at the age of 54. Born on November 30, 1971, in Mesquite, Texas, James was a beacon of strength and kindness whose presence enriched the lives of everyone he met. His passing was the result of complications with his pancreas following a double lung transplant, a battle he faced with remarkable bravery and grace.
James was the beloved son of Clara Butler and the late Phillip Reed. He was predeceased by his cherished father and his brother, Mark Reed, both of whom he spoke of often with the deepest love and respect. He is survived by his devoted mother, Clara Butler; his step-mother, Patsy Reed; his loving daughter, Morgan Glenn; his steadfast sister, Joann Blankenship; and a host of family and friends, including a special lifelong friend, Jimmie, who stood by him through thick and thin.
Growing up in Mesquite, James developed an early love for motorcycles, dirt track racing, and horses—passions that he carried with him throughout his life. He found joy and freedom in the roar of an engine and the thundering hooves of horses, which mirrored the spirited and adventurous heart that defined him. Yet above all his hobbies, James's greatest devotion was to his Lord and Savior, whose teachings he followed with unwavering faith.
James’s life was a tapestry of love, adventure, and unwavering faith. His magnetic personality and infectious laughter could light up a room, and his compassion knew no bounds. He possessed an innate ability to make everyone feel special and important, leaving lasting impressions on those fortunate enough to cross his path. To James, no challenge was insurmountable, and he faced life’s trials with courage and an unyielding spirit.
We invite family and friends to gather in memory of James’s life on May 30, 2026, at 2:00 PM at REST HAV in Mesquite, Texas. It will be a time to celebrate the legacy of a man who touched so many lives with his kindness and generosity.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made in James’s memory to a charity of your choice, reflecting his generous spirit and commitment to helping others.
James Phillip Reed leaves behind a legacy of love and goodwill that will continue to inspire those who knew him. Though he is no longer with us, his spirit and influence will live on in the hearts and minds of his family and friends. As we say goodbye, we hold close the cherished memories and find solace in knowing that he is now at peace, reunited with his father and brother in the eternal embrace of the Lord.
