In Loving Memory

James Phillip Reed
November 30, 1971 — May 2, 2026
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of James Phillip Reed, a beloved son, father, brother, and friend, who departed this world on May 2, 2026, at the age of 54. Born on November 30, 1971, in Mesquite, Texas, James lived a life filled with faith, adventure, and love until his passing from complications of his pancreas following a double lung transplant.
James was the cherished son of Phillip and Clara Reed. He was preceded in death by his father, Phillip Reed, and his brother, Mark Reed, both of whom he held dear in his heart throughout his life. James leaves behind his devoted mother, Clara Butler, his loving step-mother, Patsy Reed, and his cherished daughter, Morgan Glenn. His sister, Joann Blankenship, survives him, as do a host of other family members and friends, including his special lifelong friend, Jimmie, who stood by his side through thick and thin.
James was a proud grandfather to three beautiful grandchildren, who were the light of his life and the source of endless joy and pride. He took every opportunity to share his passions with them, ensuring his legacy of love and adventure would live on through the next generation.
A man of deep faith, James loved his Lord and Savior, a foundation that guided him throughout his life. His passion for motorcycles, dirt track racing, and horses spoke to his adventurous spirit and zest for life. James found a sanctuary in the thrill of the race and the open road, where he felt the freest.
A celebration of James's life will be held on May 30, 2026, at 2:00 PM at REST HAV. Family, friends, and all whose lives James touched are invited to join in honoring his memory, sharing stories, and celebrating the vibrant life he led.
In this time of sorrow, we remember James not for his passing but for the indelible mark he left on the hearts of those who knew him. His laughter, love, and adventurous spirit will be dearly missed but never forgotten.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in James's memory to a local charity supporting organ transplant awareness, in hopes of giving others the same chance at life that he fought so bravely for.
James Phillip Reed will forever be remembered as a beacon of strength, love, and faith. His legacy lives on in the hearts of his family and friends, and his spirit rides on the winds of eternity. May he rest in peace.
