It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of James Patrick Busbin, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, on May 14, 2026. James graced this world with his presence on November 12, 1950, in Jacksonville, Florida, born to the late Jessie and Mary Busbin. He was 75 years old at the time of his departure, and he left this world peacefully at Huntington Valley Healthcare Center.
James was a man of remarkable character and dedication, leaving behind a legacy of love, service, and resilience. He was preceded in death by his parents, as well as his sisters Elaine, Suzanne, and Mary Jane. James is survived by his cherished wife of 30 years, Amela, whom he met and married in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Their union was blessed with three devoted sons: Jeb, Robby, and Nathan. James's sister Sandra and his niece Kim also survive him, as well as his three adored grandchildren, who brought him immense joy and pride.
James's life was a testament to service and commitment. He answered the call of duty and served honorably in the U.S. Army from 1970 to 1990, achieving the rank of Captain. His postings took him across Asia for 15 years, where he not only defended his country but also built friendships that spanned the globe. Even after his military retirement, James continued to support those in uniform as a computer engineer, lending his expertise to the Army Special Forces and Navy SEALs for an additional 13 years. His contributions were invaluable, and his legacy will live on in the hearts of the many service members he supported.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, James was a man of deep compassion and unwavering love for his family. He was a pillar of strength and a source of wisdom, always ready with a kind word or a helping hand. His gentle spirit and infectious laughter will be sorely missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
A service to honor the life of James Patrick Busbin will be held on June 5, 2026, at 11:15 AM at the Riverside National Cemetery, located at 22495 Van Buren Boulevard, Riverside, CA 92518. Family, friends, and those whose lives he touched are invited to join in celebrating the remarkable life of a truly exceptional man.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to a veterans’ charity of your choice, in honor of James’s lifelong commitment to his fellow servicemen and women.
