James peacefully departed this world on May 14, 2026, at the age of 75, in the comforting surroundings of Huntington Valley Healthcare Center.
Born on November 12, 1950, in Jacksonville, Florida, James was the cherished son of Jessie and Mary Busbin. He was preceded in death by his loving parents and his dear sisters Elain, Suzanne, and Mary Jane. James leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and service that will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to know him.
James was a devoted husband to Amela, with whom he shared 30 wonderful years of marriage. Their journey together began in Bosnia and Herzegovina, a testament to their love that transcended borders and cultures. Together, they built a beautiful family and life, enriched by their shared experiences across the globe.
A dedicated father, James is survived by his sons Jeb, Maja, Robby, and Nathan, who carry forward his legacy of integrity and compassion. He also leaves behind daughter in law Cathy, his beloved sister Sandra and nieces Kim and Stacy, who will forever hold his memory close to their hearts. James was a proud grandfather to three adoring grandchildren, Cataleya, Cristiano and Cobee,who brought immense joy and laughter into his life.
James's life was one of service and adventure. He proudly served in the U.S. Army from 1970 to 1990, reaching the esteemed rank of Captain. He bravely entered Laos during the Vietnam War and spent 20 years stationed in Asia, where he dedicated himself to the service of his country. Following his military career, he continued to support U.S. Army efforts in Europe, specifically in Croatia and Bosnia, through his expertise in installing satellites. His work as a computer engineer took him to various continents, including a 13-year stint in Germany, where he supported special forces and Navy SEALs.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, James was a man of diverse interests. He had an avid passion for collecting World War II books, posters, and uniforms. A voracious reader and lover of historical shows, James found joy in immersing himself in the stories of the past. His friends and family will remember him as a person of great kindness and understanding, qualities that endeared him to all who crossed his path.
James's life was a testament to the values of honor, dedication, and compassion. His warmth, wisdom, and unwavering support will be profoundly missed by all who knew him. As we bid farewell to a remarkable man, we take solace in the rich memories he leaves behind, confident that his spirit will continue to guide and inspire us.
A celebration of James's life will be held at a later date, where family and friends will gather to honor his legacy and share in the stories that defined a life of purpose and love.
