James P. Davis
July 21, 1968 — May 15, 2026
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved James P. Davis, who left this world on May 15, 2026, after a courageous battle with esophageal cancer. Born on July 21, 1968, in Redwood Falls, Minnesota, James lived a life filled with love, laughter, and a spirit that touched all who knew him.
James was a devoted husband to his cherished wife, Wendi, with whom he shared 39 wonderful years. Their marriage, which began on June 17, 1989, in Willmar, was a testament to enduring love and partnership. Together, they raised three beautiful daughters, Lexi, Tasia, and Annaka, instilling in them the values of compassion, strength, and humor that defined James. He was immensely proud of his daughters and found endless joy in his eight grandchildren: Jada, Travis, Raceyn, Enez, Slash, Malcolm, Finley, and Huk. James’ heart was fullest when surrounded by family, whether it was sharing a joke or teaching his grandchildren the art of ice fishing.
A man of many talents, James wore a thousand hats throughout his life. He served his country with honor, being honorably medically discharged in 1989. His career as a semi-truck driver spanned over two decades, during which he shared his love of travel with his family. In 2004, James joined Warrior Mfg, where he thrived in various roles and earned the respect of his colleagues as an Application Specialist before his health required him to retire.
Known for his quick wit and warm smile, James had a unique gift for making everyone feel welcome and valued. His kindness and generosity left a lasting impact on all who crossed his path. He was an active member of the Olivia American Legion, where he found camaraderie and purpose. A lifelong enthusiast of auctions, gun shows, and swap meets, James cherished the times spent with his father, George, at these events, fostering a bond that was both profound and enduring.
James was preceded in death by his in-laws, Curt & Helen Stange, and a great-nephew, Asher Solis. He leaves behind his beloved wife, Wendi; daughters Lexi (Logan), Tasia (Osten), Annaka (Ben); his treasured grandchildren; his sisters, Susan (Tadd) and Sandra; sister-in-laws Sheri (Curt) and Janie; and a host of nieces, nephews, and close friends, including Paul Frank and family, who will all miss him dearly.
A celebration of James' life will be held on May 29, 2026, at 10:00 AM at the Redwood Valley Funeral Home. Family and friends are invited to gather in remembrance of a life well-lived and a man deeply loved.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made in James' memory to cancer research or a charitable organization of your choice. James' legacy of love, laughter, and kindness will forever live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know him.
