Saint Louis, MO – James Ollie Holland, affectionately known as Jim, passed away peacefully in his sleep on March 5, 2026, at the age of 94. Born on September 16, 1931, in Saint Louis, Jim lived a life full of adventure, love, and laughter, leaving behind memories that will forever be cherished by those who knew him.
Jim was predeceased by his beloved wife, Fran; his father and mother; and his brother and sister. Despite these profound losses, Jim's heart remained full, buoyed by the love of his surviving family. He is survived by his children, Jimmy (Anne), Janet (Sam) Appleton, Jay (Michele), and Jerry (Carol), who were his pride and joy. His legacy continues through his ten grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren, all of whom brought immense joy and laughter into his life.
A devoted member of the Pacesetter Lions Club in Huntsville, Alabama, Jim dedicated much of his time to community service, embodying the club's mission of serving others. His contributions to the club were numerous and invaluable, and his presence will be sorely missed by his fellow members.
Jim was a man of many interests, and his curiosity about the world was insatiable. He traveled extensively, collecting experiences and stories from all corners of the globe. An avid Alabama football fan, Jim rarely missed a game, and his enthusiasm for the sport was infectious. He also found joy in the meticulous art of coin collecting, a hobby that reflected his appreciation for history and detail.
Jim's sense of humor was legendary, his quick wit and engaging stories captivating all who had the pleasure of listening. To know Jim was to love him; his warmth and kindness left an indelible mark on everyone he met. He was a loving father and grandfather, always proud of his children and utterly devoted to his grandchildren. His family was the center of his universe, and he was theirs.
A celebration of Jim's remarkable life will be held on April 25, 2026. Friends and family are invited to gather in his honor, to share stories, laughter, and tears, as they remember a life well-lived.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Pacesetter Lions Club in Huntsville, Alabama, in Jim's memory. His spirit of generosity and service to others will continue to inspire and guide those who knew and loved him.
