Born on November 17, 1948, in Edmunston, New Brunswick, James was the beloved son of the late Donald and Myrtle MacWhinnie. He was a beacon of love and strength to his surviving siblings—sisters Johanna Gardiner, Nena Mims, Margaret Donovan, and Cynthia Michael, and brothers Rodney MacWhinnie, David Madawaska, Michael MacWhinnie, and Gary MacWhinnie. Predeceased by his parents, brother Clifford "Teddy" MacWhinnie, and sisters Rosie Loisel and Patricia Watson, James is now reunited with them in eternal peace. James lived a life marked by service and compassion. He bravely served his country in the US Army, completing a tour of duty in Germany, where he formed lifelong friendships and fostered a deep respect for different cultures and people.
