James was the cherished son of Emory and Mabel Murphy, who instilled in him the values of kindness, integrity, and resilience that he carried throughout his life. He was predeceased by his parents, his sister Mary Kibler, his brother John Murphy, and his dear wives, Helen and Lisa, whose memories he treasured deeply. His life was a testament to the enduring power of love and the strength found in family. James shared a remarkable journey with his first love, Helen, whom he married in 1955. Together, they built a life filled with joy and adventure until Helen's passing. In 1988, James found love again with Lisa, and together they shared many years of happiness and companionship until her passing. His marriages were a true testament to the power of love and the beauty of companionship. James's legacy lives on through his devoted children, Harold of Solomon, Kansas, James of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Ann of Florida, and Ryan of Salina, Kansas. He was a proud grandfather to six grandchildren: James Murphy, Erin Murphy, Sarah Murphy, Maria Murray, Timmy Johnson, and Emmett Murphy, and a great-grandfather to two great-grandchildren, Mason Murray and Brianna Murphy. Each grandchild and great-grandchild brought immense joy to his life, and he cherished the moments spent with them, sharing stories and imparting wisdom. A man of simple pleasures, James found joy in the quiet moments of life, whether it was tending to his garden, enjoying a good book, or spending time with his close friend Loren. Their friendship was a testament to the bonds that endure over time, and Loren's presence was a cherished constant in James's life.
