James Miller

July 2, 1949 — October 19, 2026

James Miller, a devoted family man, a brave soldier, and a cherished friend, passed away on October 19, 2026, after a lengthy illness. Born on July 2, 1949, in Hartford, Tennessee, James was the beloved son of the late Charles and Anna Mae Miller. James's remarkable life was defined by his service to his country and his unwavering commitment to his family. Drafted during his senior year of high school, he completed his education in the Army, where he found his calling and served with pride and distinction for 27 years. His tours of duty included Vietnam and Desert Storm, and he concluded his military career as a Sergeant in the Army Reserves. In 1990, James married the love of his life, Tina Miller, and together they shared 43 beautiful years. Although Tina preceded him in death, their love story is woven into the hearts of their children and grandchildren. James was a proud father to his daughters, Jamie Buckner (Anthony) and Julie Espinoza (Fiance Kurt) , and his son, Mike Taylor (Kristen). He was also a loving stepfather to Troy and Jason Waits. His legacy extends through his cherished grandchildren: Mariano Espinoza, Alex Espinoza, Daniel Buckner, and Noah Waits, who will forever carry his spirit forward. James was a man who found joy in the simple pleasures of life. He loved camping and fishing and cherished the memorable moments on the front porch, bird watching with his sister, Deana Ball. His zest for life was evident in his love for spontaneous mountain drives, where the destination was always an adventure. An enthusiast of classic cars, James never missed an opportunity to admire a vintage beauty on the road. Known for his infectious sense of humor, James had a unique ability to lift spirits and bring laughter to those around him. He was a man who never met a stranger, and his keen awareness of the world ensured he was always in the know, connecting with people from all walks of life. James leaves behind a family who adored him, including his sister Deana and her husband Buddy, his grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and a circle of friends who were touched by his kindness and warmth. His memory will be cherished by his nieces Pattie, Jamie, Chasity, Kendra, Kristina, Misty, Kaitlyn, and nephews Cody, Hunter, Gabriel, J.P., Bubba, and Grant. The family would like to extend heartfelt gratitude to the UT Home Health Nurses, especially Nurse Kim, for their compassionate care and support during James's final days. James Miller's life was a testament to dedication, love, and resilience. As we say goodbye, we celebrate a life well-lived and a legacy that will continue to inspire all who knew him. May he rest in peace, reunited with his wife Tina, and forever in the hearts of those who loved him.
