James Michael McDonald

September 30, 1947 — June 20, 2026

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of James Michael McDonald, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. James passed away peacefully on June 20, 2026, at a hospital in The Villages, Florida. He was 78 years old. James was born on September 30, 1947, in Tyrone, Pennsylvania, to Anne Gertrude (Wilson) and James Michael McDonald Sr. He was the beloved brother of the late Lawrence McDonald and Judith Anne Fracassi, and is survived by his dear sister, Patti. He was predeceased by his good friend, Jeffrey Hilligoss. James grew up in Tyrone, where he graduated from Tyrone High School in 1965. His life was marked by service and dedication, as he served in the US Air Force from 1967 to 1970, achieving the rank of Sergeant. His service took him to U-Tapao Air Base in Thailand for a year, a time he often reflected on with pride. In 1968, James married the love of his life, Marcia Ann Dumesic, in a beautiful ceremony in Kenosha, Wisconsin. Their union was blessed with four wonderful children: daughters Annalee Jean (Glen), Penny Ann (Travis), Jessica Joy, and son Peter James. James was a devoted grandfather to Mileena, Emma, Kaleb, Egan, Glenden, Liam, Lucas, and Max, who brought him immense joy and pride. James's career was a testament to his hard work and talent. He was a skilled journeyman electrician, working in both Florida and California. His passion for the arts led him to achieve a SAG-AFTRA card, securing principal roles and working as a background actor in union productions. He also embraced education, earning an associate degree in humanities in Santa Clarita, California. An adventurer at heart, James was an avid fisherman, spending countless hours on his boat in the Florida Keys and along the Gulf Coast. He tried his hand at sailing on Lake Mead in Nevada, embracing the challenges and joys that came with it. James was also a prolific reader and author, penning a book titled "Boy in the Shack," which detailed his adventures growing up in rural Pennsylvania. James leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and perseverance. Though our hearts ache with his passing, we are comforted by the memories and stories he leaves behind. In accordance with his wishes, a private funeral ceremony will be held to honor James's life. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to a charity of your choice, reflecting James's generous spirit and commitment to helping others. James will be deeply missed by all who knew him, and his legacy will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to have been a part of his life. May he rest in peace.
