In Loving Memory

James M Finch Sr
March 31, 1960 — November 1, 2025
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of James M. Finch Sr., a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. Born on March 30, 1960, in Rochester, NY, James left this world far too soon due to a tragic accident on October 31, 2025. He was 65 years old.
James was the cherished son of the late George and Jeannette Finch, who instilled in him a spirit of kindness and resilience. He was predeceased by his brothers, Donald and George Finch, who, together with his parents, surely welcomed him with open arms in the afterlife.
James shared an unwavering bond with his beloved wife, Penny, with whom he celebrated 46 wonderful years of marriage. Their love was a testament to enduring companionship and mutual respect, filled with shared laughter and the simple joys of life, like watching episodes of "Bonanza" and "Little House on the Prairie" together. His humor, often highlighted by his legendary smart remarks and funny jokes, was the light in many people's lives, while his inspirational speeches served as a guiding star for those he loved.
He was a devoted father to his children, Robert (Tammy) Finch, Jamie (David) Besse, Crystal (Gary) Verescak, and Jimmy (Brenda) Finch. James took immense pride in his family, always seeing the potential in others and encouraging them to strive for their best. His legacy continues through his 16 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren, who brought him immeasurable joy and whom he adored deeply.
Beyond his family, James found solace and happiness in the simple pleasures of life. He was an avid fisherman and loved working outdoors, often finding peace and perspective in nature. His mechanical skills were renowned, and he possessed an innate ability to fix almost anything. A day was never complete without a cup of coffee in hand, a simple ritual that brought him comfort and delight.
James's passion for WWE wrestling was a fun aspect of his character that many will fondly remember. Yet, above all, it was his heartfelt devotion to his family that defined him. His life was a tapestry of love, laughter, and wisdom, threads that continue to weave through the lives of all who knew him.
In respect of James's wishes, a private funeral ceremony will be held to honor his memory. While we grieve his passing, we also celebrate the remarkable life he lived and the indelible impact he made on all who had the privilege of knowing him.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you take a moment to share a cup of coffee with someone you love, in memory of James. His spirit lives on in the love he gave and the laughter he inspired, and he will be deeply missed by all whose lives he touched.
