James Melvin Conley

May 20, 1949 — August 7, 2026

James Melvin Conley, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, peacefully departed this world on August 7, 2026, at the age of 77. Born in the serene town of Port Huron, Michigan on May 20, 1949, James lived a life filled with love, laughter, and the joy of family. James was the cherished husband of Halina Cross, whose companionship and love were the cornerstones of his happiness. Together, they built a family founded on kindness, respect, and shared adventures. James was a proud father to three children: Sophia Conley, Megan (married to Michael Miele), and Jason (married to Kiley Conley). He embraced his role as a stepfather to Danielle Boorstein, Lisa Kostello, and Michelle Kamman, each becoming a treasured part of his life. The legacy of James's love extends to his six grandchildren: Deliria (known affectionately as Hazel) Olivas, Finnegan Conley, Paige Miele, Riley Miele, Grayson Conley, and Cora Conley. Each grandchild held a special place in his heart, and he took immense pride in their achievements and growth. James is survived by his sister, Sandra Gilbert, who has been a steadfast companion throughout his life. He is predeceased by his parents, Melvin and Betty Ann Conley, and his nephew, Michael Gilbert, whose memories he cherished dearly. An avid golfer, James found joy and tranquility on the greens, often accompanied by friends and family. His passion for the sport mirrored his approach to life—patient, strategic, and always appreciative of the beauty around him. Throughout his life, James touched the hearts of many with his warm spirit and gentle guidance. His sense of humor and generosity left an indelible mark on everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. Whether it was sharing a story, offering advice, or simply being a supportive presence, James was a friend to all. His family suggests that those wishing to honor James's memory consider making a donation to a charity of their choice, a gesture that reflects his compassionate and giving nature. James Melvin Conley will be profoundly missed, but his spirit will forever live on in the hearts of those who loved him. May he rest in eternal peace, surrounded by the love he so richly deserved.
