Jimmy was born to Mary Agnes DeNardi Medley Luckett and James Melvin Medley, who both preceded him in death. He grew up in Louisville, where his journey began as a spirited and athletic young man. He graduated from Desales High School, where he developed a lifelong passion for football. This passion would later manifest in his dedicated coaching at Most Blessed Sacrament and the Allen County Little League, where he took immense pride in mentoring young athletes.
Jimmy devoted his professional life to the craft of sheet metal work, demonstrating skill and dedication throughout his career with The Sheet Metal Workers Local 110. His work was an embodiment of precision and artistry, a testament to the industrious spirit he carried through life.
His love for the outdoors was evident in his fondness for fishing and hunting, activities that offered him solace and joy. A proud Catholic, James was an active member of The Midniters AC and the Shriners, organizations that reflected his commitment to community and fellowship.
Above all, Jimmy was a family man, deeply devoted to those he loved. He is survived by his children, Kerry, Jimmy, Tammy, and Larry Dee, who carry forward his legacy of kindness and resilience. His brothers, Joe Medley and Kenneth Luckett, mourn the loss of their beloved sibling, whose presence was a constant source of joy and camaraderie. Many nieces and nephews.
The light of Jimmy's life continues to shine brightly through his eight grandchildren—Molly, Luke, Ashley, Lisa, Megan, Matti, Nikki, and TJ—and his seven great-grandchildren, who were his pride and joy. He was adored by many great friends, who will forever remember his goofy sense of humor and his unwavering willingness to help anyone in need.
A celebration of Jimmy's life will be held on May 16, 2026, at 2:00 PM - 6:00 PM at the IBEW Local 369, located at 4315 Preston Hwy, Louisville, KY. Friends and family are invited to come together to honor a remarkable man who lived with love, laughter, and an open heart.
