James peacefully departed this life on July 25, 2026, surrounded by the comfort of his home and the love of his family. Born on February 1, 1950, in Columbus, Georgia, James was a beacon of strength and kindness to all who had the privilege of knowing him. James was the beloved son of James Sr. and Susan McClendon. He carried forward the values and compassion they instilled in him throughout his life. A proud alumnus of Carver High School, James pursued further education and obtained his commercial driver's license, laying the foundation for a rewarding career as a trucker. For over 30 years, he graced the roads with his dedication and professionalism, earning the respect and admiration of his peers and colleagues. Beyond his professional achievements, James was a devoted family man. He leaves behind two loving children, Kelly McClendon and Tim McClendon, who were the lights of his life. He was also a doting grandfather to three wonderful grandchildren: Jaquarius McClendon, Susan McClendon, and John McClendon, and a proud great-grandfather to Jennifer McClendon and Bruce McClendon. His legacy of love, guidance, and strength will endure in the hearts and memories of his family for generations to come. James had an unwavering commitment to his family and community, always ready with a helping hand and a warm smile. He was a man of great character, known for his integrity, humor, and a heart that welcomed all. Though his presence will be profoundly missed, his spirit will live on in the acts of kindness and love he inspired in others. In accordance with his wishes, a private ceremony will be held to honor James's life and legacy. The family appreciates the outpouring of love and support during this difficult time and invites those who wish to honor James's memory to make a donation to a charity of their choice, as an expression of the generosity and compassion that he embodied.
