Louisville, Kentucky – James Marion Medley, a beloved father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed peacefully at home on April 7, 2026, at the age of 79. Born on March 10, 1947, in Louisville, Kentucky, James was a beacon of kindness and generosity, leaving behind a legacy of love and cherished memories that will endure in the hearts of all who knew him. James was the treasured son of Mary Agnes DeNardi Medley Luckett and James Melvin Medley, both of whom predeceased him. His childhood in Louisville was filled with love and adventure, setting the foundation for a life dedicated to family, friendship, and community. He graduated from Desales High School and pursued a career as a skilled sheet metal worker, proudly serving with the SMART Union 110 for many years. His work ethic and dedication were admired by his colleagues and friends alike. A man of many talents, James was a member of the Shriners, where he found great joy and camaraderie. He was also an avid outdoorsman, finding peace and fulfillment in the simple pleasures of fishing and hunting. These hobbies were more than pastimes; they were opportunities for James to connect with nature and with those he loved. James is survived by his four children, Kerry, Jimmy, Tammy, and Larry Dee, who were the pride and joy of his life. His legacy continues through his brothers, Joe and Kenneth, as well as his eight grandchildren, Molly, Luke, Ashley, Lisa, Megan, Maddie, Nikki, and TJ, and seven great-grandchildren, who were a constant source of happiness and inspiration to him. His family fondly remembers his warmth and the countless moments they shared, from family gatherings to simple conversations filled with laughter and wisdom. James's kindness and generosity knew no bounds; he loved nothing more than spending time with his family and friends, ensuring that everyone felt welcomed and cherished. His home was a sanctuary of love, and his heart was open to all who needed it. A celebration of James's life will be held on May 16, 2026, at 2:00 PM at the IBEW Local 369, located at 4315 Preston Hwy, Louisville, KY. Family, friends, and all who were touched by James's remarkable spirit are invited to join in honoring a life well-lived. In this time of remembrance, the family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Compassus Hospice for their caring and supportive care during James's final days. Their compassion provided comfort to James and the family, for which they are deeply grateful. James Marion Medley will be dearly missed but never forgotten. His legacy of love, kindness, and generosity will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to know him. As we say goodbye, we hold onto the precious memories and celebrate a life that was truly beautiful.
