In Loving Memory

James Lucente Dykstra
October 10, 1977 — October 9, 2026
James Lucente Dykstra, born on October 10, 1977, in the vibrant city of Manila, Philippines, peacefully passed away at the age of 48, surrounded by the love of his sister and nephew. James was a beloved son to Wyatt and Aida Dykstra, who raised him with boundless love and guidance.
A proud alumnus of Guilford High School, class of 1996, James carved a successful career in the IT and computer industry. His passion for technology was rivaled only by his love for building and flying drones, a hobby that brought both joy and adventure into his life. His woodworking skills were admired by many, reflecting his eye for detail and appreciation for craftsmanship.
James possessed a heartwarming spirit, known for his large smile and infectious laugh that could light up any room. He had a special knack for making the best omelets, a cherished memory for those who knew him growing up. His enthusiasm for life extended to his love for sports, particularly as a devoted fan of the Michigan Wolverines and the Detroit Lions.
He is deeply missed by his children, Sophia and Traven Dykstra, who were his pride and joy. His sisters, Benedetta Rieser and Angelica Edwards, alongside her husband Troy, hold his memory close, as do his adoring niece, Zendaya Edwards, and nephews, Zechariah, Zayden Edwards, and Nathaniel and Michael Rieser. James is also remembered by his parents, Wyatt and Aida, who cherish the years shared with their son.
Preceded in death by his daughter Mikayla Rose Dykstra, James is now reunited with her in eternal peace. His presence remains a guiding light for those he leaves behind, captured beautifully in the family's special message: "Brothers never really go away, they walk beside us every day. Unseen, unheard, but always near; still loved, still missed, and very dear."
Family and friends are invited to celebrate James's life on November 7, 2026, at 9:00 AM at Crossroads Community Church, located at 1668 Crossroads Lane, Freeport, Illinois.
